Biggest NHL Busts Brian Lawton (1983)

Brian Lawton is often cited as one of the biggest draft busts in NHL history because he struggled to produce at the level of expectations of a Number 1 pick. To compound the fact that he struggled to produce, there are several players taken after him that went on to have hall-of-fame careers.

I know he wasn’t a great pick, especially with who was picked after him, but he had a 10 year NHL career, in 64 Claude Gauthier was the first overall, and he never played a game. I argue Lawton wasn’t a true bust!

Hey clown, you didn't give any explanation on how he could have been prevented from being a bust. How about he been allowed to play a full year with the 1983-84 US Olympic Team.
