What I love most about this twist is that it genuinely felt like a betrayal. The Colonel and Naomi were hiding secrets from Snake from the very start. Miller was your man: a previous soldier himself, digging for details, trying to find answers, sharing information and asking the important questions. Miller always had your back, the one person you could always trust. Then this hits you, he played you like a damn fiddle. And damn does it hurt.

@@leducdu91 Yeah. I mean, look at Venom Snake's bionic arm. Pretty advanced, so by the time MGS1 would've happened, prosthetics could've been advanced enough to make it look exactly like a real arm. Could've also taken someone else's arm like Ocelot did though. Although we do have to take into account that Kaz said he didn't want to replace his arm and rely on bionics, so this is just a small possibility.

For example you wanted to walk away from the killing on the battlefield and live a normal life in peace, and how Psycho Mantis told you have a big place in Meryl's heart in his dying breath, and you'd didn't find out the truth until the last minute. And Liquid's example of him, he shot down 2 F-16's Jets with a Hind D, Planned and calculate the Terrorist Attack, and knew you were coming. But one thing is still puzzling me, Snake. How did Gray Fox get to Shadow Moses Island and how did Liquid know you were coming to spread the Fox-Die virus?

Remember that Liquid's inherited the recessive genes(the blond hair, which is a rarer hair color, indicates it) (also take in mind that recessive does not mean inferior) while Solid got the common dominant ones(brown hair, common). Neither of the Twin Snakes inherited Big Boss' complete genome because the genes were culled accordingly, and it was only the Third Son, Solidus, who was a direct genetic copypasta, hence 'perfect clone'

Fun fact: I suddenly realized that Snake was being tricked into activating Metal Gear midway through the shape change thing. I was like "waaaait a moment. The DARPA chief never gave his code. This thing will either deactivate Metal Gear if it's active, or *activate it if it isn't*. Oh fuck, I'm being played!!!!" but of course, to finish the game you have to activate Metal Gear. I just found it really funny that I managed to realize it but Snake didn't. Also: if you call Master Miller when you get the final key shape, you'll notice that Miller is kind of ... "excited".

Well, you also have to consider than YOU may have known they didn’t get the Chief’s code, but Snake didn’t. You, the player, were shown the flashback scene where Liquid scolds Ocelot for killing the Chief, but Snake didn’t know that. As far as Snake was concerned, all he knew was that the man he saw die before his eyes was not the DARPA Chief, but Snake didn’t know that Octopus impersonated the Chief because they didn’t have his code. Raven told Snake he must solve the rest of the riddle himself, so kudos to you for doing that. As far as Snake knew, however, they had both codes and were ready to launch.

This game made me jump out of my skin several times over. Was the spookiest metal gear. Could of had nightmares after playing this. For some reason the others didn't have quite the same intensity. Not me, I realized that somethings fishy with "Master miller" because in the cell thing, when u meet meryl in disguise and she tells u to open the door then psycho mantis casts something in that cutscene they said "YOU FOOL! you've killed him! it was an accident. Now we'll never get that detonation code!" And since Darpa/president baker/chief never gave their code it means that if u input the keys again it'll activate, even otacon mentioned it can be used to deactivate/activate

When you play the game a second time you pick up on subtle clues that "master Miller" is Liquid. Like when he talks about sniping he says "...If your senses were full from the beginning, you'll never be a great sniper." This is similar to how Liquid believes your genetics keep you on a set path in life. Or the fact that you can't contact "master Miller" during the hind fight.

There was something very universally relatable about how Solid Snake went through a tediously contrived sequence of computer operations only for the computer to do the exact opposite of what he intended. "NO! I deactivated it!' is just like any of our "No! I hit save and quit, not quit without saving!" or some other similar mishap.

Even through the whole reveal, Liquid maintains the persona of Master Miller until Campbell cuts him off. That's fucking brutal. Ties in perfectly with the fact that Snake admired Master, to further break Snake's heart, and Liquid fucking hated the guy during the Phantom Pain years. Genius storytelling I love it

Apparently MGS1’s English translation was different than subsequent games. They made it make more sense for audiences like us, but Kojima didn’t take kindly to this and got angry for some reason, firing the translators or some shit. This is why in Twin Snakes where Master would say “drill instructor” he says “boot camp instructor”, or weird lines like “the soldiers of the Marine Corps” in MGS2. It flowed much better in MGS1.

When you think about it, after MGSV, it was Ocelot killing Kaz years later. Kaz went hostile on Big Boss after finding out that he was being used like a puppet. Only to be killed by ocelot years later so he can be used like a puppet again by that kid that would become Liquid Snake. It blows my god damn mind. MGS will never be topped.
