Metal Gear Solid is a game that is fresh and new the older you get. As a kid, you're drawn in by the walking robot and action and cool character you play. As an adult, you're drawn to the political struggle and depth of the characters and the lore surrounding Metal Gear. What a stellar game and series.

The thing is, by MGS2 he was already overdoing the voice. Don't get me wrong, I still like his portrayal of the character, just that sometimes it gets too comical in a way. Kinda like what happened to Al Pacino's voice by the time he did Scent of a Woman in 92, with all that yelling, but that's what happens when you get older, your voice changes if you force it too much.

It wasn't so bad in MGS2, but by Snake Eater...yeah. For what it's worth, I think it was fine in MGS4 and Peace Walker. The silly jokes in MGS1 are incredibly necessary though. Despite the amazing writing MGS1 still holds up to, the one liners and setpieces break it up in a very refreshing way, because unfortunately, like in MGS4 and MGS5, if you have almost a solid 3 hours of serious writing it gets grinding and annoying, so having some humor break it up is a good way to keep your audience engaged.

Matthew Williams Don't get me started on how bad MGS5's plot is. Frankly, I think he deserved the boot from Konami given that he had 5 years, a team of 200 employees and a huge budget and the game is still incomplete.
@BillyPalmerMusic9 жыл бұрын
Scott Perry I've been thinking this actually. Most people have been very black and white about Konami vs Hideo, when five years and an insane budget has actually resulted in a game pretty muddled in a lot of places. Kojima's made far better trailers than a real story all the while making ridiculous claims about what his game. He basically cut the whole game into his trailers :(
@royal28529 жыл бұрын
Matthew Williams Keep in mind, MGS5 had a whole chapter cut from the final release. Skullfaces death in Kojima's words was actually early in the game and then I assume the rest would've been about Venom's fall from grace. Kojimadrones never cease to amaze me with how much mental hoops they create to justify hack writing and bad direction, especially for MGS5. The way the scenes were directed might be subjective but knowing some fans actually think the writing and dialogue is anywhere half-decent is straight up delusional. It's frankly embarrassing when some people hold MGS as the bastion of storytelling. It's sad to say but MGR:R has a more satisfying story then MGS5 complete with a Metal Gear fight followed by a one-on-one fight, a series staple that MGS5 completely forgot about.

C: Solidus will was achieved in MGS4 despite Solid not believing in it. People were eventually free from the system and if it wasn't for Ocelot's betrayal to Solidus, he would've achieved it during MGS2 but hey, then you wouldn't get a sequel. Finally, screw Raiden and his lame ass role in the entire series. Solidus died for civil rights, liberties, opportunities! Now that's why he is a true Patriot to me.
@Firemarioflower9 жыл бұрын
Fahad S.S He still was in command of Dead Cell, who slaughtered the public (mainly Vamp, but also Fortune and Bomberman) because they didnt believe them. Solidus still tried to kill Jack, who's a hero. And he's an enemy of Solid Snake too. Ocelot didnt betray anyone since it was orchestrated from the start. It's not Raidens fault. He's had a terrible youth, go easy on him. Sure, he was a Patriot, who fought the patriots. How does that make sense? He CLAIMED to fight for that, not really did it otherwise they hadnt built a stupid oil rig and convert it into a sort of platform, plus several Metal Gears in order to destroy the world. Do you really think he only created those Rays to fight Raiden and Snake? NO! One of the hostages was killed after Raiden and Snake took care of the C4, and Solidus was still in control at that moment. Besides, he instigated Shadow Moses.

Deathbrewer To be fair, Big Boss in MGS 4 sounded nothing like David Hayter, so I can get passed him having a different voice. In fact, I think I prefer it, since when he was voiced by David Hayter, all I saw was Solid Snake in a different setting, but when he was voiced by Keifer Sutherland, I saw a different character all together, which Big Boss is supposed to be. Plus, Accent or not, Mei Ling is still adorable.

Arthus850 Only problem I have with it is Hayter being Naked Snake/Big Boss in MGS3 and Peacewalker already. But I get what you're saying, I don't really have a problem with Keifer voicing Big Boss now that he's really changing into the damaged, cynical and conflicted character who ends up a villian. Japan still has the same voice actor they've always had though, like if Hayter had stayed on for English regions. Just saying.

"He wanted it" Metal gear Solid is my favorite series of all time, and MGS3 was (and probably still is) my favorite game. And to hear that Big Boss probably became seriously depressed, and eventually wanted death to come to him just breaks my heart man.

What I always loved about this part was the tone of snakes voice when he talks about killing big boss, and how he saw gray fox as his friend. he doesn't excuse the things he's done, just accepts that they happened, because he had to do it. it's interesting seeing the parallels between him and big boss, seeing as how BB had to kill The Boss, whilst Snake had to kill both his father, and his idol in order to succeed in his mission. but whereas Big Boss took the route to change the world to how he saw fit, i love how Snake, having gone through similar circumstances, despite having become numb from all the trauma he experienced, and realising that he was born to carry on a bloody legacy of war, saw more reason to save the world from that way of life. Solid snake was the truest hero of the series

Man, the dialogue is so much better than Twin Snakes. They really should have made it mandatory for all the actors to listen to their lines from the original to re-create it in the remake. This is really the best of Hayter's work as Solid Snake. "Let's just say I needed to be alone for a while and Alaska was the perfect place." So much passion there.

But still phantom pain tells us "the fans of bigboss" of the reasons of his wickedness in MG, MGS2 and MGS1. MGS PP is more build around after the events of peace walker. If you were a fan of that, definately you will love this.
@firstroundsonme4729 жыл бұрын
Chew JeeKian In MGS1, Big Boss was a mythical legend/psychotic madman who was so highly valued terrorists wanted the remains of his long dead body to enhance their genetically modified army. In MGSV, Big Boss is a coward who couldn't face the music for creating a nuclear powered mercenary company and attempting to lie to the United Nations about it. So he brainwashed one of his loyal medics, who just so happened to have a dismembered arm, brain damage, and a body full of shrapnel and tooth remains, into getting FULL BODY plastic surgery to take his place and deal with all his personal problems, including dealing with his psychotic son who is trying to kill him for being a deadbeat father and passing him inferior genes, killing the other psycho who sent an army to bomb his company, and dealing with that greedy, self serving jackass of a best friend "Miller". Meanwhile, the "real" big boss is lamping it up on some tropical island somewhere with some half naked blondie named "eva", reminiscing about the good ole days. Occasionally taking time to send the medic tapes, patronizing him into thinking he's "really" big boss and how he should be proud of himself. All while he's plotting to send his other bad ass kid in to kill him so he can eventually reclaim his name and all the fame that dumb ass medic built up for him. I'd say MGS1 had FAR better writing than that mess phantom pain.

solesurvivor5 Solid Snake never really expressed. No 'Snake' has ever expressed - though, you didn't say 'express' WHAT, like, Emotions? Feelings? If so, none have, so it wouldn't matter. They all are, quite socially awkward when it comes to expressing anything that doesn't involve the mission and intel. That being said, Keifer is fine with Rage, because Venom is mostly about rage.

+Neco The Sergal Chef Metal Gear Solid 2 was good as well, considering the direction they were going for. They wanted an aged snake...little rasp Metal Gear Solid 3 - voice direction was probably to sound like snake, but set him apart from solid by gruffing it up Metal Gear Solid 4 - Aged and brittle sounding snake. I get it, but kind of annoying to listen to. Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker - Set it apart from Solid, but try to make him sound ten years older. That's what I think happened when it came to voice direction

Modesti I thought the Snake voice he did in MGS3 was pretty solid, what really bothered me though were Hayter's deliveries in Peacewalker, that shit was WAY over the top in my opinion, he sounded like he'd gargled acid before he went into the booth. I thought it was kinda pointless to change the voice actor considering that "Big Boss" doesn't even say anything in the entire fucking entirety of MGSV, there's no codec or any of that shit that defined MG in my opinion, I was completely disconnected from the character and the world. Most of the time I played as one of my mercs because fuck it.

These dialogs are my favorite part of the game. Naomi gets stunned by the fackt that a man who killed her brother, the one she was hell bent to avenge for, concidered him best friend and it was nothing personal. Also love that voice sayind "yup" full of pain. killed his own father, suffers psycological trauma, but took it like a man. Also one of the best parts is when he says: " Naomi, Frankie said.. that he loves you.." if he had told her the truth, it would have killed her.

This. This is when Naomi realizes that Snake isn’t the remorseless killer that she thinks he is. That he truely thought of Gray Fox as a friend, and that if could have, he wouldn’t have nearly killed him. That’s why she makes it so that FOXDIE won’t kill him
