I know this is 2 years after the fact, but really, you, Koa AND John John should have won WAVE OF THE WINTER for your massive barrels that epic day! Insane! I used to own an old "Surfing Hawaii" book and the description of this spot was something like, "Absolute insanity!" You guys had the necessary preparation and the skis for safety made it doable, but the sheer BALLS it took to paddle into those monsters was INSANE! Most amazing perfect conditions to pull it off.
