Biggest Tires that will fit a Toyota Tacoma Off Road with out lift 285/75/16 KO2 - OOW Outdoors

After reading lots of forums and watching many videos I bought 285/75/16 tires with a 16 x 8 +0 offset wheel. Had it trim a little plastic but everything else is still stock OEM suspension. This is not the TRD PRO.

Had a stock 2020 Tacoma, always afraid of getting stuck. Went for the 10k service and traded it in for a 2021TRD4X4 OFFROAD. Been thinking of going wider and taller, I do a lot of sand and rock off roading throughout the so cal 🏜 desert. I've actually had great results with the stock tires, both on and off road. I find old mines on Google maps and plot a course to them and drive. Sometimes climbing up 4 foot banks other times in 3 foot of loose sand. Momentum is the most important in the sand.

I think I'll go with the 265/75/16 on my 4X4 SR5 , so I can keep it Street able power and braking because I hear that lift kits that are not done properly will cause more problems. Like pinion angle and other stuff. Also , I want to be able to put a spare tire on that is not too close to the exhaust

@@JustinNiggemyer good so with stock wheels they rubbed a bit on the upper control arm. I added spacers and they fit well. I did end up upgrading my suspension with the fox 2.5 with DCS reservoirs. And they rub on the fender liner a bit but nothing major. You have to change your caster and shift the wheel completely forward.

It’s called steering sweep. Common term in the drifting world. The bigger the spacer or offset, the more is going to sweep forwards the fender liners

Totally agree on not buying the Trd Pro, I got the 2022 xp Trd off-road for a really good deal and I’m saving for suspension and some nitto grapps rn. Got sliders, tint, front bumper and snorkel in my garage because I’m scared to cut my car up😩

Or, instead of trimming, you could have just adjusted the alignment for more positive caster angle. Adjust before you cut.

255/85/r16 a true 33.1 inch tire no rub - no cut - no lift - the skinny tires !

Stock TRD wheels are 16x8. SR5 wheels and 16x7.

That set up only works if you never go off road..... It will rub when the Suspension is flexed

So I have 265/70/R17 K02’s on my stock 2013 Tacoma right now. I am putting a 3” suspension lift on mine though soon. Will I be able to get the 285s on my stock rims being I have the 17” wheels . And I can put them on before my lift right?

I didn't do a spare tire but other youtubers showed it being done. It just gets pretty close the exhaust

You guys always seem to make videos when I'm thinking about the same topic. Lol. I ordered the wheels for my tacoma today. Mine has a 2" spacer lift on the front and icon add a leaf on the rear. The wheels I ordered are 16x8 -10. Do you think I'll have much rubbing with that tire size and offset with the 2" strut spacers on the front? I planned to go with the k02s or ridge grapplers.

Just running the stock spare. I only do mild off roading where my chances of a rock puncture is moderate only

I am on stock suspension. It rubbs a little but not a deal break. Just trim back some pieces where the tire touches

So, (with a 3 inch spacer lift) if I stick with the stock TRD wheels that are 16x7 at +25 offset (5.0), I will be able to run 33"s just fine? This is strange because on Jeeps (what I'm educated in) you almost always want negative offset to avoid issues, but it seems with Tacoma's, you want to keep everything positive and tucked in close to avoid rubbing?

There is a trade off. You may hit your UCAs with a 285 and +25 offset. As you move your wheel out by decreasing offset, you increase your clearance to the UCA but your wheel takes more room to turn. You may clear the UCA but end up rubbing on the front or back fender. 0 offset seems to be a good place for 285s to clear the UCA and minimize wheel sweep.

Mounted 265/75r16 tires on my stock suspension/stock rims (offroad) and had no rubbing, mounted the exact same tire onto my 16x8 -25 offset rims and had some rubbing. Now that I have a lift, I can't decide between 285/75r16 or 295/75r16.

That is incorrect, due to the Volk wheels being 16lbs (forged) even with the bigger tire this set-up is only 3lbs more per corner over stock. It would be overkill to regear.
