Remembering how much I enjoyed painting nighthaunt minis from mortal realms magazine two years ago, I've returned to them to get me into figure painting again - WW2 subjects too dull now, all camouflaged etc, need the variety. So this time..... I've got various nighthaunt plus a black coach, Sigmarite Mausoleum, and Citadel Woods to chew on - what fun, I'm retired now and have nothing better to do, and I can afford all those Citadel pots and brushes!

Played in two RTTs with Emerald host, in both I went 2-1, I really enjoy the strategic flexibility of killing off support heroes in turn 2-3 typically. Hexwraiths as bounty hunters are pretty brutal if you buff them correctly and fling them 24” up a board. Great tarpit. I played 4 games with kurdoss, unfortunately in the new meta Reikenor is better to get Purple Sun off. Kurdoss needs to be babysat by spirit hosts, I haven’t had that issue with Reikenor. Funny enough, Reikenor is 20 points cheaper and does 1 less rend and 1 less damage, but the + to cast is sooo good. Cheers

Glad you found success with Hexwraiths they’re one of my favorite models in NH. Also that’s cool about Reikenor, glad he’s performing well too - classic Purple Sun shenanigans.

Drowner + crossboos is a bad combo due to crossboos being a bad unit. Just so, so bad. No damage, no threat. Teleporting into ideal firing position doesn't help them because they can't actually hurt anything when they get there. Drowner is pretty good though, and if you want a combo with him harrows can duplicate his CA to teleport more units.

The combo was just a “for fun” mention. As for the Craventhrone themself, they’re not supposed to be premiere damage dealers. At 115 points, they are cheap, DoK bow snakes are 180. Craventhrone could play more of a harassment role. So I’m not as low on them as others. Just something to test out.

It was immensely disappointing to see the warscroll for the crossbows. No fun flavor, no special rules (besides ignore line of sight…which isn’t an issue at all in AOS), they should have had a profile similar to manskewer boltboyz, 24” 2s to hit, 3s to wound, if they didn’t move, 6s auto wound, maybe rend 1 or 2, 2 damage. Would have been great at 100pts for that profile

@@NexUtInfinitus Lol, I agree they could have more flavor and abilities but that suggested profile for 110 points is excessive. 😆💀

You can Teleport the Guards in Back of an Terrain piece (with No Line of sight to the enemy)near the enemys Backline/Supporter/Buffer/range Attack. The enemy can Not fire on your crossboos and you can slice some meat from them. He is pushed to relocate his Backline or stand and be shooted with can shoot Back.

The condemned are gone, but as they were a hoardy chainrasp faction the grieving legion does sort of carry on the tradition. All the subfaction hype I've seen has been for Emerald Host, and that def seems the best to me. Grieving is ok if you want to run hoardy rasps & reapers. And crimson's fine if you want to spam bladegheists, who have otherwise lost their reason to exist with the entire faction getting retreat & charge. Bladegheists used to be great as a unit or two to be your elite hammer, now you either spam them as your entire army in crimson doom of don't run them at all otherwise, and I don't like that change. Quicksilver's just bad. Sure you can get past wards, but without rend your opponents don't need to rely on wards to blunt your attacks. Yes, there's wave of terror, but that's way too unreliable to be your only answer to armor saves.

Yeah Emerald Host is our favorite 5sure. I’m sure someone will make a Quicksilver skew list and do well, but it’s probably my least favorite subfaction with Grieving Legion.
