We wrap up yellow pea harvest and are thrilled with the yields! But we almost lose the largest grain bin on the farm! Each day is exciting, never know what will happen!

I remember when I was 17 years old and we had a 40 acre fruit farm. Every now and then I would snag a grape vine and pull the roots up with the cultivator. I was never allowed to work the land in the pear orchards. I just stayed in the vineyards. I even chopped the fuel cap up with the 5 foot wide field mower. And my older brother put diesel into a gas powered tractor. We sold the farm about 16 years ago.

In 1955 and 1956 my friend and I built the tops for 3200 bushel bens in western Kansas. We were paid $25.00 a person for each top compleated and time and a half for extra tops, on a good day we could complete 4 a day if we started at sunrise and stoped after dark. We worked seven days a week and only took time off when we moved to another town. This paid most of my at Fort Scott J.C.

Life is about seizing opportunities, you deal with the consequences later, IF, you made the wrong choice, but if you didn't, and your leap was advised, then you reap the fruits of your push. It's pretty clear that this new, unplanned bin, was one of the good choices, regardless of any other factors. You've now, attained independence from other factors, which allows you to sell at your leisure without stress.

Do you get different prices for yellow vs green peas. ? Love all your videos. Nancy from Massachusetts. My grandparents had a farm here and now the land sold to organic farmers. I am so happy it was kept as a working farm. Cool to see them use gas burners to get rid of weeds and bugs. Reminds me of nitro burning drags. Those bins are amazing. You might contact the state university to see if they are interested in the contents of that well. That wheel looked bigger than the current opening, so i think it's been capped. There could be 50 feet of household stuff in that hole if someone just chucked all the junk from the house in it rather than leave it laying around to get blown into fields by storms.
