A lot of folk (for whatever reason) got down like that back in the day. I personally knew and had friends and acquaintances that would aim to convince whomever they felt they could convince, to hate or not talk to whomever in an attempt to either be accepted and or in order to be and appear exclusive. Meanwhile, if that person was able to son that person, in due time they will be walking all over them…….as well as would use their lack of possessing a spine to destroy them. All it takes is Time fast forwarding to see how the dynamics of folk choices and behavior played out. I remember a good friend of mine trying to get me not to talk to someone that they didn’t like. They got a huge reality check, as I’m cool with everyone……unless I choose otherwise. Folk (whether or not a real friendship exists with them) isn’t worth you interrupting what Life set in place for you. Mature minds know and understand this. Control freaks and folk that can’t be trusted usually want the best, while actively and consciously choosing to extend the worst. Eh……

Mack's death threats allegedly stemmed from his decision to leave Bad Boy for Death Row. I've always wondered why he was never signed to Death Row, which would have been a game-changer. The rumored deal Death Row offered might explain it-Mack was already an established artist by 1994-95, and he would have demanded much more than a $200K advance. How many albums was the $1.2M budgeted for? Also, with Mack still under contract with Bad Boy, were there plans for Death Row to buy out his contract? Lastly, it's important to consider why Biggie might have had an issue with Mack-Sean Combs likely played a role in pitting Biggie against Mack, grooming Biggie to take Mack's spot. For what it's worth, _Project: Funk da World_ was the debut album released by Bad Boy/Arista on January 1, 1994, and it was certified gold by April of that year. _Ready to Die_ debuted in September 1994 and achieved gold certification by November. By September 1995, it had reached 6x platinum status. $200,000 in 1994 is worth $424,480.43 today $1,000,000 in 1994 is worth $2,122,402.16 today

Naw. I don’t think Diddy caused the disdain between Biggie and Mack. It’s more likely that Biggie was a natural competitor who wanted the number 1 spot, sort of like when Kobe got Jerry Buss to get rid of Shaq. If you listen to a lot of his verses after RTD, you can hear Bigs desire to be the king of rap, which he ultimately became at that time. He even had a back and forth with Nas about who the King of MC’s were at that time.

@@662Piru Although I do agree that Biggie did come across as a natural competitor, I’ve seen some footage of both Biggie and Craig Mack doing interviews early in their careers when they had the BIG Mack campaign, and Biggie definitely seemed like he never really fw Craig. I think the reason being is that Biggie wanted to be a hardcore lyricist who rapped about real shit where as Craig Mack was a more charismatic animated rapper who rapped with a boom bap flow and he probably found that corny. I think Puff definitely tried to replace Craig Mack with Biggie by favouring him more (getting him more promo, features, and overall more opportunities.) Puffs overall sneaky tactics I feel is what started the tension between Puff and Craig and Big and Craig, because how is it that Craig Mack was the First artist signed to Bad Boy with a hot number 1 single out but Biggies album comes out a week before his.

You wild asf to say that, I’m sure you never listened to “Operation Get Down” even “Mack World Sessions”. The music Craig was doing in the 2000’s was actually dope asf he never lost it just gotten better with updated production at the time. If you listened to Craig Mack’s music and understand it you wouldn’t be saying that. Guy definitely can hold his own on wax 💯! Ima fan I know this and anyone would that listens to him

Macks album on Death Row would been great, the album he came out with in 97-98 was on some fly pimp shit it was better than his first album in my opinion
