He hustled when he was young, and he said he did struggle at first. Now he owns multiple units at the mall and rents out to other retailers. That’s why he doesn’t need to sell his ‘master pieces’. He just talks with customers and has tea time :-)

Last month I had a stopover in Hong Kong so rushed to get to see Mr Chan. I thought that his shop closed at 8pm. I got lost on the way and finally got there at 7:55pm thinking that at least I could get to see him and his shop and spend 5 minutes there, however most of the shops were closed included his!!! I'll get there one day.

Visited HK and Japan over the last three weeks. Visited Campaign Court during the last week of February 2019 - Mr Chan store was closed! There are some notices saying that he has opened a new store on HK island from Kowloon - very disappointed as this was my last day in HK. Was looking to purchase some items for my Leica IIIf

Yes there’s lots to learn about camera design and function. It’s the foundation of what digital photography is today. I actually believe much of the older cameras have way more innovation than current digital cameras with their boring design and copy-cat features. No innovation, creativity or risk-taking at all. Digital photography is truly boring, with a few exceptions.

Hi Take, Thanks for your latest video from HK. It was great and really informative to me. I hope you missed the cold weather and snow here in Vancouver! I hope to be passing through HK later this spring on my way to Beijing. Although I’ve been to HK before, your videos have always given me the incentive to explore once again the 'bowels' of Tsim Tsa Shui and the surrounding areas. Great city! BTW, which hotel do you stay in when there, or do you stay with friends and/or family? I’ve stayed at the Imperial Hotel and The Salisbury YMCA near Nathan Road in the past - a number of years ago, though. Any suggestions other than these? Thanks. Lu

Because he's been selling for 50-60 years and has made his money. He's basically retired and his store is a museum... most of the other shops around him are renting space from him. He also collects cars, watches, pens and is the chairman of the antique society of Hong Kong.... he doesn't need to work.

I like to think people buying Mr Chan's cameras will put hundreds of rolls through and take thousands of pictures, and carry them everywhere. I fear they'll sit on a shelf or be brought out as male jewellery. A camera was made to take photographs.

Yes, but do you blame him? What would his store be like if it was half digital cameras? He’d be out of business or he’d have to be hustling outdated and worthless digital gear in his 70s. He’s smart to stick with cameras that hold their value. Let the young hustlers focus on digital gear.

As I mentioned in the video, he no longer has to sell cameras. He’s made all his money and his store is more a museum than a camera store. That’s good for us since he takes his time talking to you. He doesn’t care if you buy from him or not...
