I agree with much of what you say in this video. I'm not too interested in a cheaper x100 camera but if it means they put all their ideas like film sim dial, drop down screen, crop dial on it, made in China and leave an ultra-high grade version then I am all for it. What I would really like is an x100v with a close focusing 16 f2 and a 50 f2. I don't care about them being slightly bigger, since it's not very pocketable anyway. This way they could sell some new tele-and wide-converters to go along with them. a Linear motor or better focusing would be great, but I get along ok without it. I very much disagree about the flip down screen on the x-pro3, however. I desperately wanted to buy into the Fuji ecosystem around the time the x100v and x-pro 3 came out. The poor design choice made me go with the x100v, and ive enjoyed the versatility of the close focusing, leaf shutter and built in ND. I can't afford to have many cameras, so I can't get one that purposely makes taking pictures and operating the camera more inconvenient for the sake of differentiating it from the x-t series or other cameras. My hope for the x-pro 3 is: Made in Japan, that global electronic shutter sensor, IBIS, even better build quality, and no gimicky design choices. Thanks for the great content.

In the X100F SE Brown club here. My favorite prized camera. Had the V twice… sold them… tried the VI but returned it. Not a fan of the 40mp sensor and how it processes files. Looks a bit like an iPhone to me. No character. My set up is X-T1, X100F and recently added the X-T30 ii. Lenses are 18-55, 23 f2, 35 f1.4r and 60mm f2.4. As far as the X100 series… Fujifilm is really missing the mark by not putting out a monochrom version… X-Pro monochrom, also, IMHO.😊 Happy Shooting 📸

A Nikon response to the X100VI that was reminiscent of the Nikon SP rangefinder sounds like a dream come true (maybe the built-in lens could be the 24/1.7 DX.) Especially if they do not hold back on the specs and build quality and make it $1500 - that will sell like hotcakes!

They are backordered because a lot of inventory from camera stores is not being sold to the public direct, they are being scalped directly from the stores to the likes of Ebay. Ask yourself how scalpers are getting multiple units where joe bloggs is sat there waiting 6-12 months for a single camera.

Fuji have lost the plot, firmware upgrades that make cameras worse, poor build quality, not enough stock. Fuji have the XM5 so they won’t do a cheaper one. Fuji gave up listening to customers a while back.

@ I must admit I’ve been watching them the past couple of years and it does seem like they’re scrambling. Maybe too many cameras too quickly without sitting back and figuring out what’s happening with current models, I don’t know. I think maybe the X-H2S trying to go head to head with other videocentric mirrorless cameras was a bit too much of a resource drain on their team. Focus on what Fujifilm is good at. Compact cameras with compact lenses. Let’s see what happens in 2025. X-Pro4 and GFX100R.

I agree with all of your design “nitpicks,” none of which would have affected sales during the X100 launch period fever. I have the VI, but am really yearning for an Ex-Pro4. I understand but dislike the fact that Fujifilm moved so much of their production to China, and certainly hope the Ex-Pro line remains in Japan. To me, the Ex-Pro models have always felt better in-hand than the purportedly pro XT bodies, and of course much more substantial than the X100 series. Also, the Ex-Pro variants with special materials and finishes made them well worth the asking price. On another note, the Internet-boosted craze beginning with the X100V and exploding with the launch of the X100VI probably robbed future purchases of a version VI successor (similar to the pandemic period’s buying craze of bikes, cars and light trucks, and motorcycles, which have led to huge problems for manufacturers and dealers as sales have collapsed).

I like Fujifilm, I own the X100V (my first X100 series camera). Somehow I still miss my X20 which I sold away for pennies on the dime so long ago. I would love to see a spiritual successor to the X30 to bring it up to speed the current generation and with a 1 inch sensor. Keep the manual zoom ring and have an articulating screen at least like the XT5. I wouldn’t mind see a spiritual successor to the X70. A EVF only X100 series type camera would be interesting. It would be fascinating to see a spiritual successor to the XS1 with a 1 inch sensor and manual zoom ring with a 24-200mm f2.8 like that of the RX10II. The return of the Fuji high end compact line up. XS2, X40, X70S, X100VI. That will be one heck of a line-up.

both are great, but I do like the flexibility of ILC of the X-M5. If you shoot video, the X-M5 is awesome. If you're mostly stills and like using a viewfinder, then the X100VI. Luckily you can play with both and see which to keep 🙂

I ordered the X100VI on launch day and ended up giving my order to a friend four months in, around June, and went with a different point-and-shoot. It arrived 6 months later from order date, at the end of August, for my friend. This was one of the most botched launches I've ever seen. That would've been my first Fuji camera too. I'd be very hesitant about getting into any of their new products in the future because of this.

People seem to forget when explaining the most significant updates to the 6 is the upgraded lens, now sharper at the edges at f2, plus the image stabilisation, and larger megapixel. The completely new lens seem to be completely overlooked, what is a camera where the lens is of no account? It’s utterly fundamental!
@bigheadtacoКүн бұрын
the Fujifilm X100V and X100VI have the same lens. It was upgraded in the X100V from the previous lens that was the same in the X100, X100S, X100T, and X100F.
@kidkanteКүн бұрын
Scalping. End of story. Artificial popularity. I have the X100F and still use it when I feel like shooting. I'd upgrade if the camera was available at even a Leica Q3 level (in-stock online at Leica website every 45 days or so), but it's NEVER in stock anywhere besides a huge markup on Ebay. For this reason I'll never buy an X100 again I don't think.

yes there's definitely lots of speculators trying to flip, but i also see lots of them around as well. I totally agree with everything you said here in this video. Fujifilm developed this 40 megapixel sensor and decided to stick it into every possible camera they've made since. For me this is a bit of a overkill, as I'm not a professional photographer and I don't need all that resolution for my day to day photos. Not to mention the issue with the autofocus not being on par with anything on the competition. I reckon they could have fit the sensor from the xh2s with the 26mp and avoid having to work with such large files. Or at least as you mentioned, keep an x100v with that sensor and add the ibis to it.
@GhosT396Күн бұрын
Sorry but of all cameras, a high MP count makes the most sense on a fixed lens camera, where you cannot change lens or optically zoom. It adds a lot of versatility with digital zoom (cropping).
@CapaCernКүн бұрын
@ agree to disagree. Cropping wouldn’t give you the same result of an actual change of view like when changing lenses. Yes, cropping is good and all, but 26mp is more than plenty to do that. That’s just my experience, I’m taking the X100VI and an XT5 to a trip to Prague today, and I’m not very much looking forward to having to transfer photos from the camera to my laptop once I’m back, takes too much time and space. Even Sony with the a6700 have kept the 26mp sensor on it.
@GhosT396Күн бұрын
@ 🤷♂️it doesn’t give the same quality as changing a lens but it is the next best thing when you can’t change the lens. I compared the V and the VI and there is a noticeable difference in crop ability. Considering there is a built in digital teleconverter it makes sense

If Fujifilm believed the market would be there long term, it would consider cranking out X100 series cameras as quickly as it does Instax cameras. In the long term, the insane demand for these expensive to manufacturer cameras is not reliably sustainable. It would be nice if the point and shoot cameras returned that pass themselves off as less expensive X100 cameras --- like given them shutter/aperture knobs and that retro range finder look --- there would be a market if you could crank them out for under $500?

The X100T cost $1722 in today's dollars. The X100F cost $1688 in today's dollars. The X100V cost $1706 in today's dollars. The X100VI is, of course, $1599.

I have the D-Lux8, it's a very different camera. The D-Lux8 is a gateway camera into Leica's ecosystem, while the X100VI is Fujifilm's flagship point-and-shoot, if we can even call it that. If you want IQ and power, you go X100VI every time. The D-Lux8 is a true point and shoot straight out of the 2010s. It does what it does well, but it won't compete with the X100VI, except for its optical zoom capabilities.

The most disappointing thing about this camera is its lack of availability and the secondary market ( scalpers ) that have sprung up. Two local retailers have pre -order where you pay in full and wait… I’d like one of the cameras but there’s no way I’ll pre pay or pay a premium. I’d rather pony up the extra cash for a leica q or even a Sony rx1r ii. I’ll never consider a Fuji again because of this shifty business practice.
