Elvie and the crew have finished the roof installation starting with tongue and groove ceiling, rafters and roof insulation, all the way to the Douglas Fir fascia and felt on the roof.
Meadowlark‘s all-time favorite window and door brand- Sierra Pacific H3 wood frame interior, aluminum clad exterior doors and windows have been installed and they are stunningly beautiful. We highly recommend these windows and doors for all of our homes.
The crew continues work on the interior with frame walls, applying the smooth, clear plant-based Timber Pro Crystal Urethane Clear Satin Interior varnish wood finish, and sealing the entire interior seams of the logs with Conceal chinking. Propane gas heaters are used on the interior to keep the house warm while the varnish and chinking are applied.
The crew will return in warmer weather to stain the exterior and to chink the exterior seams.

Basically they are free framing inside a shell instead framing to shell or house absolute craftsmanship wow ill take the garage as a house I like how high the walls are it's kinda sad I liked the car park better I'm surprised by that but feels more open to me I guess we like what we like😎 the whole build is awesome just something about the look of the logs in that garage is just very different and inviting🤔

Regards the doors & windows that he is so impressed with in the UK all our doors & windows have 3 locking points not including the actual door latch which would make 4 plus they have 1 on the top & 1 one the bottom, most decent companies provide a guarantee that it’s burglar proof & if anyone breaks in due to the door being compromised then they will pay for all your losses due to the burglary plus refund all your doors & windows plus fit a new door/window although they never guarantee the glass & although you can’t smash thru them even with a hammer ultimately the glass will fail & that goes for any glass produced even if it’s bulletproof if u whack it enough eventually they will get in.

The homeowners have chosen to use gas heat throughout the house. The flames will be visible in the stove but it will not be wood.

Hello from Australia ...may l ask does the chinking ever need to be replace ?

No. Once we put the chinking in it is permanent and never needs to be redone. The only thing is there can be minor breaks in it depending if the log moves too much but it can easily be repaired with more chinking. You can expect a handful of places in the house to have some of the chinking crack but it’s no problem it can be repaired. Most of it stays in perfect condition.

Andersons are a good window but I would rate Sierra Pacific H3 definitely a quality notch above the Andersons. The brand we use is from Sashco Products, Conceal Chinking and I believe it is latex -based. It is safe and has little to no smell.

Let me rephrase that a bit. What we have discovered after living in a log home for over 40 years is that they seem to drown out the natural sounds like wind and noises from nature but they do seem to let in noises like traffic etc. maybe a bit more than a frame house.

Why would you varnish the wood indoors it looses its ability to regulate humidity making the space wet

The inside of the log homes is not humid or wet. It’s important to seal the logs and get them to be very smooth so it’s easy to clean and beautify and protect them for the life of the home. The best way to seal the interior is with our plant-based Timber Pro Clear Finish. It’s very safe to apply versus competing brands of latex based finishes (which have a toxic ingredient base) and you don’t have to worry about toxins lingering in your home. You caught that! Good eye. I didn’t realize that got on the video. Several minutes after they were installed I caught that and we changed them right side up again. I guess in the middle of it I took a video. I was really impressed with the quality of the Sierra Pacific door and the ease with which the door locks all went together but one of the guys got a lock upside down first time around. But it fit so precisely it was a breeze to get it corrected.

Actually the doors on the exterior of the Big Horn Rancher are Sierra Pacific wood doors with aluminum exterior cladding and they are an exterior door, not an interior door. If you choose the H3 Sierra Pacific wood clad window this door is the perfect match in the wood and the exterior cladding. It’s a brilliant choice and I recommend all of our Customers to consider this option. We’ve learned that the price range for the H3 window is very competitive and seems to be one of the best values for the money that we have discovered in windows.
