An exposed horn core is full of nerves. OUCH! Horn sheath integrity would be affected by local soils and available minerals, as well as genetics. Among dairy goats, we normally disbud the kids who will be registered (so the horns don`t grow); still, there can be fights to the death in the doe herd as well as among the bucks. Natural doe horns are like scimitars and would be very dangerous in a fight for herd Queenship. The whole topic of horns is a fascinating area of study. Willi B. in Canada.

Very Interesting! I found a skull of a broken horn ram one spring near whiskey mountain many years ago. I kept it for awhile, but then did the right thing and turned it over to F&G. I never saw it again. In AK, I watched 2 rams bonk together for several hours, it was an amazing spectacle, a definite high point in my life. That was back when there were two rams in AK. I’m actually not sure if there are enough rams in AK to fight now. Was that Blackie and Brownie at about the 1 min mark?

Yes Dad's two pack dogs they came back to Wyoming and live out on Dad's Fish Creek Place. Oh, they were 25% wolf breed in northern B.C. for packing.

Your channels awesome my grandfather went into Jackson hole on a elk hunt in the early 80s I believe. We went back there for family vacation beautiful country man I have all my grandpas old photos from the hunt pics of huge bear tracks and there whole camp setup the pack mules it’s pretty cool.
