@xxands93 No. Sparring rules are different, fighting techniques are different, and training is more brutal. Knockdown rules are different than Shotokan/JKA style kumite. Knockdown rules favor until the person gives up/gets knocked down or until 2 minutes are up. JKA point sparring favors when 1-3 good hits are landed on the other opponent. Don't listen to the troll.

Cool fight! The coolest thing is , that even after a championship the rivals bow to each other, have no aggressions against the opponent and take a hug. And everybody is happy :D... you know what I mean?

Yeah kyokushin is real man's fight but you need to learn not to flinch and guard your head in split second to those high Ushiro mawashi geri or Spinning hook kicks

Because punching to the face is not allowed, you create an unrealistic fight where the combatants no longer heed even the most basic rules for engagement. Distancing yourself from your opponent is ignored because you have no chance of hitting anywhere else besides the chest. You have men who wear black colored strips of cloth trading body shots. It feels like i am watching a Rocky movie. What i do not get is that you can still have full contact and be safe using helmets and gloves. The kick which gave the bald guy a concussion could just as easily killed him given the proximity to his temporal bone, if direct contact was not already made. Now why on earth would you allow kicks to the head (which are much more lethal) and take away punching to the head?

Andrei T, I think you're really biased with your oppinion, though I do understand where you are coming from. I think that face punching in not allowed, because it is so much easier than kicking, yet it (depending on the force) can have similar effects on the target. I practice karate, and I know from first hand experince that kicking and aiming with force requires a lot of controll and if face punching was allowed it would really become more of a glorified street fight as people will resort to that more, like in MMA. I think because kicking needs a lot more focus it is allowed as a show of skill. Also, in my oppinion if you "heed the most basic rules of engagment" it would be a martial "ART" anymore, it would be just violence that is okay to watch. I think karate is about a lot more than just the fighting.
@andreit360110 жыл бұрын
I dont see why bias should matter. We are both discussing karate within the scope of our training knowledge. Somebody who wears a black belt should be able to kick to the face as easily as they can punch. Control and accuracy is not a problem for someone of their presumed skill level. I know this because i spar regularly and i am a black belt in shudokan. I am not one to brag, but for the purpose of credibility, i think it is relevant to say that i am capable of nicking someone's ear with my toe without really paying attention to "focus". With years of training i am able to know where my foot is going to be. It becomes a natural thing so focus is not required. Your sensei should be able to place his foot an inch away from your head. Someone knew to karate would need to focus on control. As to the "rules of engagement", a fight is still a fight no matter the style. Distancing yourself from your opponent is very relevant to any fight. Feet have more range than arms. What do you mean by "...violence is okay to watch"? Martial Arts is the combination of an art of fighting with the real life application. Its not random hand waving. Everything you do in the dojo has purpose (although the effectiveness of the technique is a different argument). You learn martial arts so that you can defend yourself. Honoring centuries old of tradition is a secondary purpose. If your fighting style is more "art" than it cares about the "martial" side of it (ex: taekwondo) then its a waste of time because it is impractical on the street.
