One of the things I like the most about the strong man/women sport is the way an athlete will finish their event or decide they're stopping and immediately turn to cheer on their competitor. You don't see that in too many other sports these days.

I liked the buzzer, it means a true time not relying on someones thumb.
@a-a-rondavis9438Күн бұрын
The refs were still split-timing the buzzer lol. It wasn't connected to anything. Just a button on a pad. They were also debating on whether early button presses were legit or did they adjust the time? It was so stupid. Worst decision in Strongman since the stone-off.
@bronchopedКүн бұрын
@a-a-rondavis9438 no the buzzer was what stopped the times...

That buzzer gave me an idea what if each stone pedestal had a timer that stops as each stone is loaded.

With as fast as some of these events are, I think electronic timing is necessary. Novikov has argued for this. Maybe he'll invent something one of these days.

Celebrating Mitch is great. However, people forget Thor placed 10th on pressing and still got 2nd. When pressing comes back its going to be a different result. Thats assuming he gets back to 100 percent. I currently feel Tom amd Mitch and Thor are all on same level when at 100 percent
@bronchopedКүн бұрын
That's just false mitch won 8/9 comps this year. They just aren't on that level. Mitch had a rough comp and still won by 10 points. Thor hasn't improved in overhead comp results since arnolds. So there is no indication that his overhead Will ever get near back to best
@oktaviu8668Күн бұрын
@@bronchopedtrue, 100% agree. And I don't know why people put Tom at the same level as Mitch, they are delusional, sorry to say it
@a-a-rondavis9438Күн бұрын
Hafthor did only 1 rep with the Apollon's Wheels at the ASC. He was credited with one rep, and that got him 4th. He has definitely improved his overhead. I was shaky on whether he'd get the 375 lb axle, and he did. To be fair, he was 5th on the overhead medley, which is pretty good considering the SMOE. The wooden log was definitely different than what the athletes were used to, and ruined some placings because of it (Bobby Thompson). It was very front-heavy, and that's why Mitch broke his back to clean the first rep. He's creeping up on Mitch and will suprise us at the ASC 2025 for sure. If he can reliably push-press 400 lbs again, he's back in the game. Mitch's pride keeps showing in these tidbits. Thor isn't claiming anything and even giving himself 2nd place to Mitch on top Strongmen of today.
@antoniocenteno1483Күн бұрын
Thor is currently better at the axel too. The log, though beautiful was definitely something else for the guys, they where not expecting that.
@bronchopedКүн бұрын
Thor hasn't made a single improvement on overhead. Mitch had a less than perfect weekend at Rogue and still won by 10 points. Thors pec is clearly a massive issue mentally. At this point it seems very unlikely that his pressing improves enough to get enough points
@a-a-rondavis9438Күн бұрын
@@bronchopedThor is still improving on Cyr Dumbbell, mostly a technique event however, and he's still improving on Axle. He's knocking on 400 lbs, and that's a ways away from where he started. He was grinding 330 lbs for crying out loud.

Yes, you need to watch for the right time and place. Everyone in strongman will give you a lot of time to talk or sign something or a selfie. I have spoken too many for 10 to 20 minutes. Got a selfie with all of them and have had numerous items signed. I have spoken to Loz, Liz, Mitch and others a lot. I have a Tyr hoodie signed by around 30 athletes and coaches. The only time I was put off was with Oleksii, yes, I walked up at the wrong time. He was talking to his coach about strategy. But he still gave me a few minutes.

So Tom's Max Stone is counted as a world record, but Thor's deadlift isn't because it wasn't in competition ? Or did Tom do the max stone lift in competition ? Because I remember it as during Covid as the WUS records. Now I love Tom and Thor and I count both their records as World records, Thors 501 and Toms Stone. SO, Why so much debate if ppl count Tom's lift as fine and why not Thors ? Is this the Eddie effect ? Discuss :) (I apologise if I missed the WR Stone lift in competition by Tom, but I don't think I did)
@elliottengstrand5988Күн бұрын
It's the Eddie effect combined with the fact that people probably just care more about the deadlift record. Because you're right, there's no logical consistency in the opposition.
