My favorite moment by a landslide was Luke Stoltman winning the overhead press event in front off a Scottish crowd! I'm not even Scottish but man that felt special. I like the stop button. It’s time strongman got with the times (lol) and used a better system. The stopwatch introduces human error and reaction times of the official into the athlete’s performance. Just look at Sam and Mel’s photo finish on the power stairs. Fractions of a second matter. They’ll get the start signal figured out and the athletes will mentally make the stop button a part of their game plan for each event. It’ll be so much better for competitive equity.
@Micheldied13 күн бұрын
I think it makes no sense when there are split times taken by stopwatch for each implement before the end. That being said, I like that organizers are trying towards being better, even if it was awkward this time.

The replay we used to watch Samantha hit the buzzer first is enough technology to confirm the winner without added gimmicks in my opinion. I also can't recall a list of close calls we could have evaded if only we'd had that button? Are we trying to fix something that's not broken?

I think what makes Mitch so strong is, the other including Thor have to constantly be perfect in every event to be first. Hooper comes in second or 3rd even if he messes up. When other people mess up usually they come last. And even if Thor would have full pushing power (which I hope he will because we all want to see him as good as possible)..there is no way he will be 1st or 2nd in every event because Hooper will always be faster. And lastly..Hooper likely does more events than anyone else and still pulls of such a performance..THAT is the really insane part for me....that is bonkers

I think Rogue has carved out an identity for their comp as "Most Fit Strength Athlete." Compare to WSM - premier event, best all-rounder; or SMOE - heaviest event, greatest test of static strength. I agree that the Arnold's team needs to decide what their identity is.

I liked the buttons. I actually think that they could implement them for starting event timers too; if the athletes are holding the button down and releasing it starts the timer, then press another - or the same - button to stop the timer, there can be no questioning of timers really. And if one athlete is a little slower off the mark, it isn't effecting them. Hafthor's reaction to being reminded about the button at the end of the stones was funny. For me, on the power-drive, Thor and Mitch were kind of the opposite. I'd expected Thor to be quicker with the 'bale', and Mitch on the sled pull. And yeah, a rare mistake letting us know that Mitch is human after-all. I loved the yoke into power-stairs. Was surprised at Hafthor's lack of pace on the yoke. Sam really showed how dominant she is with dumbell pressing with that kettle-bell press. Also, a shame Thor struggled with it so much... he did well with the overhead. Sure, peak Thor would be finishing the event, but showed his shoulder's progress there to me. Was great to see Tom Evans and Luke do well, and seeing Tom on good form too. And yet again, made me excited for Thor's overhead to come back to as good as he can get it... we might well see some real wars between him and Mitch. The women's comp was amazing also. Angelica I think cost herself a podium spot by underestimating herself on the deadlift... awesome to see Inez with a big win. I didn't expect her to do badly at-all, but didn't have her as a podium finisher, and she... well, she had a Hooper-like performance. Did no-one tell Inez that the implements were supposed to be heavy? How many times are people going to be getting confused between people talking about Rayno and Rauno now? lol

The button was great for the power stairs for sure. But it seems pretty useless in events with 1-2 people at a time that also have a very clear finish line. It seemed especially useless for something like the stones. One person, clear cut finish and no ref having to call 'down' for form. Giving the time control to the athletes is great in general, but if there are zero benefits for the event, it's just another things for the athletes to worry about and *slightly* takes away from the finish/celebration. Despite that, as a viewer I didn't really have super strong feelings about it, just seems like something that would be better for certain events than others.

@WinstonGoldstein13 күн бұрын
The Competition was great, (apart from having to watch Crossfitters when the Strongman/Woman event times were delayed) 😂 Changes Id like to see for next time: 1. Ditch the red button. This is like a finish line for a race, but no one is running in Strongman. If the refs can't press stop on a stopwatch (they can) then are they able to adequately referee a movement and lockout? 2. Men and Women should not compete side by side. Ive heard that it was to promote Strongwomen as a sport but this does not achieve that goal. Strongwomen should have their own events and their own platform, somewhat patronising to put them on with the men to attract more "eyes" on their sport. 3. Camera angles were set up for crossfit and made it hard to see who was ahead with events such as powerstairs. Rogue has the money but Giants has the better competitions. Hopefully they can learn from each other.

2 reasons I don't like 5 people going at a time.. it makes the event go by so much faster which means I get to enjoy it for less time, and I cant keep up with everyone's performance while watching it in real time. 2 people (or 3?) at a time feels right to me!

I think, that if Rogue/any organizer would instruct the athletes in advance, that there is going to be such a contraption, it may eliminate some referee faults/hand over more of the responsibility to the athletes. But give them time to get used to it in their training, do not just dump it on them by surprise.

As I've always said, Thor is by far the strongest ' but Mitch is the best eventer. Mitch knows he isn't stronger, but he is consistent. Thor could take any DL record he wants and knows it.
