The only bike I ever bought brand new circa 1981. All my mates laughed and said I should've got an X7 or an RD or a 'Super Dream'.... until the roundabouts that is. Pound for pound the best bike I ever owned.

I'd keep the mirrors, strip the paint off and clean them up. It's not only the cut wires affecting the electric start, it's actually been removed 🤣. The air filter is meant to be oily, you're supposed to periodically clean up by soaking it in petrol to remove any trapped crap, then dry it out and re-oil it with clean engine oil, squeezing out any excess. Good luck with the resto.

I've a red deluxe 82 still on original exhausts .bought her brand new. oh and as for the superdream it was a 250 in a 400s chassis very slow and heavy.

Interesting bike, is it an import? I remember the Superdream, but I don’t remember the single cylinder. I’m guessing that you couldn’t ride a 250 on a learners license by then.

Big_Pezza I just checked it was 1983 that they changed it so learners could only ride a 125. There were plenty of bikes with disc brakes before then. My 1975 Suzuki GT125 and my 1976 GT250 both had front discs.

@@BigPezza the RD250 LC was apparently a catalyst for the change, it was simply too quick for learners.

@@PhilOsGarage 😄 I had an RD400 and it was never fast enough! I seized it twice at 100 mph. Mind you, it was my fault for running it too lean. I forgot to change from 'winter' to 'summer' mixture... 😞 🏍

My first bike was a CB125 RS. The 250 is supposed to be great for wheelies, a significantly better bike than the super dream.
