Did this 25 years ago and now it's time to do it again. The delivery drivers have been writing "out of date" on the regulator for years, so figured I better get on it during vacation. The company tried to get me to put down a $500 "tank deposit" after the tank had been here for 15 years without one. I told them either exempt me from the deposit or come get the tank and I will go elsewhere for my propane needs. They acted shocked that I could be so rude as to not give away my money for nothing, but they did exempt me instead of losing a customer. Sometimes it pays to be a man instead of a wimp. Thanks for the video.

You are not rude. Recently heard of the deposit play that gas supplier tried on friend after he had bought house with tank already there !! Good for you great comment thanks !!

My 9 year old nephew and I got a good laugh at this video. We were watching it and he started laughing hysterically. I was just checking so I asked what was so funny and he said, that you can;'t use white tape on gas and P.O.L. fittings don't seal on the threads anyhow.
@jsjunkremoval5 жыл бұрын
You needed to use the yellow tape if you even needed it, but you don't use tape for flared fittings bud.

Good video, I feel I can do this myself now as well. I also live in a very remote area and don't relish the thought of paying someone to fly in to do it for me. Thanks!

yes, very easy job just make sure you have the right stuff and check for leaks.

Thanks for the video, but 2 things. You should never use an adjustable wrench on brass fittings and secondly, Yellow teflon tape is standard (and necessary for inspectors if need be). I know it's not a big deal, but if the regulator fails and something happens, guess who they will blame.

Wish you had told where you bought your regulator
@BigRedFishDad Жыл бұрын
I sort of did… by “they had everything” I was referring to the local propane shop there in Eufaula (it’s the place that would come and fill their tank)

I’m about do set this up with the duromax 13000EH and a 125 gallon propane tank. I really want to know your propane tank supply store for where you purchased your regulator and other supplies.
@BigRedFishDad4 жыл бұрын
Don't remember the name only on in Eufala. Just lookup your local propane company they will have then. Home depot and lowes might also.
@mwolkonsky4 жыл бұрын
BigRedFishDad so you went with the huh pressure regulator across the yard until you got to the generator then reduced the supply to 3psi?
@BigRedFishDad4 жыл бұрын
@@mwolkonsky no... the generator has its own regulator and could handle straight off tank so we didn't need to reduce it.

Why did you not use the yellow gas line tape on the connectors? Much thicker and better thread seal on gas conectors. Can be purchased at LOWES less than $4 a roll. It's for gas connector use.
@jsjunkremoval5 жыл бұрын
Because he doesn't know what he's doing. If he knew what he was doing, he would know it's the yellow tape and you also don't need tape for flared fittings.

A tubing bender, and know how to use would be better, no tape on flare fitting. a very small amount of pipe sealer on mateing surfaces is a good thing.

1. Dont you need the yellow tape? 2. Dont you need soap in the water? 3. Thanks for posting!
@BigRedFishDad7 жыл бұрын
xesvuli420 yellow... probably but was all we had was what was already on the old one so doesn't seem to degrade too quickly... and yes soap or you would not get bubbles if there was a leak.
@tjmellonslap6 жыл бұрын
Yes on soap and tape comment !! Kids bubble play liquid works great to !!! Lowes has the yellow thicker tape !!
@anthonytriolo36435 жыл бұрын
You should put a stress relief on that pipe.

As a LICENSED gas technician I can only say do not follow these instructions. You don't use teflon tape on POL fittings, even then, you wound it on the wrong direction. You didn't back up the tightening of the POL into the regulator which can break free the fitting on the reg. And if ever there is an issue, good luck on an insurance claim since you did this yourself and video taped it without being qualified to do the work.

jimnmaine1 blah...blah...blah... thanks for watching been going strong all year... ran the heater in garage this winter too used the low pressure regulator we took off. Thanks for the advice ;)
@jimnmaine17 жыл бұрын
That's great that you have made it this long. I'm sure you checked flow and lockup blah, blah, blah, NO, because you have no idea what you are doing. That is evident when you check the size of a flare fitting by putting them end to end. LOL!!!
@BigRedFishDad7 жыл бұрын
jimnmaine1 bless your heart another "professional" got their feelings hurt because people can "do it yourself"... thanks for watching ;)
@jimnmaine17 жыл бұрын
Good that you edited your post, but that doesn't change the fact that you have no idea what you are doing. I have ZERO problem with someone being a do it yourself person. I have a problem with someone who says they are a master of learning, your words not mine, and yet scoffs at being called on poor workmanship. People who actually have mechanical ability would always back up anything they are tightening or loosening with a second wrench. But not the good ol' "Master of learning." You strike me as more of a Aw shucks, that's good enough I reckon. Wrong is wrong and a hack is a hack, not someone who can do it yourself.
