I love motor melt downs and this is no exception. Its been great in the new place for a few weeks and I cant wait to get settled with the dogs and family. An extra long one today but there's a lot going on so I hope you like it. Out here in the bush it gets so load when the birds wake up at sunrise but I don't mind. Anyway have a great weekend and hopefully Ill see you all in next Fridays video.

HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

1-Copper, Nordic Gold. 2-Yes, to unboxing the fan mail. 3-I enjoy watching all 3 types. Coins are fun. It’s interesting to see how much detail you can achieve with each type of metal. I know nothing about metallurgy but this is how I feel about each metal after watching your channel for close to a year now: Copper- Class melt, the red is a really nice color, it often comes out of recoveries quite and is and the process of taking it out of wires seems satisfying Aluminum- silver is a nice color, and it seems quite easy to melt, the slag at the end always seems to have a lot of extra aluminum so I like the fact that you take care to not waste anything. Brass- definitely least favorite, I can understand why someone might like gold but it often looks like sulfur when smelted and seems like the dirtiest of the metals to melt. Still great though

I like the way copper melts more than anything. Would definitely like to see your fan mail! Also, one of the knife making channels, not sure if I can say which one, had some angle grinder cut off wheels sent to him from a company called Graf. A diamond edge metal cutter and a wood blade. The metal cutter performed well on steel but I'd be interested to see what a diamond blade would do to Aluminum or Copper....

Likes and observations: I like the blend of casting and sand moulds in one vid. However, not opposed to a full sand mould vid, esp if it’s something functional you’ll use in the shop. I like the smaller to medium coins and objects. Your benches look wobbly. I suggest some diagonal bracing for the legs for rigidity and maybe anchor the back to the wall. Just a suggestion. I’d like to see a kiln relining and then casting vid. I know you have a big kiln coming, but I’d still watch it. Fan Mail. Yes. Maybe not everything, but def the good stuff. Maybe hi light some viewers creations. Also, maybe an open and melt, or an open and use vid. I know it’d make the vids longer but I’d still watch for sure. Sand casting for objects you’ll use in the shop. Knobs, handles, small hammer or small tools or specialized objects for your needs. Thanks for all your great content. Been a fan for years.

Loved todays episode.. Since you have a wood burner (stove/fireplace) you could pre-melt stuff.. Like put the copper in it to burn off the paint & resin.. It would work for other metals too.. I used to do lots of scrapping and always melted my metals to ingots, (Pays more money) I had a huge wood burner in my garage.. It actually was a small Incinerator, yet they are large compared to a normal wood burner.. Worked great for me for 20+ years.. Never had large amounts of slag, pre-burning them..

I love aluminum melts best. Something about the foamy dough-like slag is very satisfying. Also I love when you stick a cold piece in some thats already molten and it just crumbles like its made of of clay or something. It's the most unique melt imo.

I've been working in a foundry for the last year now, your wooden boxes for sand casting are smaller versions of the steel frames we use for our sand casting 😎🤙 I love Fridays! Always means I have no trouble sleeping when I get home from work and then I rewatch after I get up to see what I missed hahaha

We also need to keep thousands of pounds of weights on our casting frames so the gas build-up doesn't make the frames blow apart hahaha

It was like a giant aluminum slag soufflé! Let's see... I do love the aluminum melts. So pretty and shiny! Even the slag is interesting. Then again, the nordic gold is beautiful. I love how putting all those metals together results in gold! Also, the copper melts are so awesome... green flames, the liquid metal color is gorgeous, the way you blowtorch the metal and it takes on this rainbow sheen... Oh, right... the question was "What's your favorite metal melt?"... um... you want me to choose just one??? And yes, open your fan mail. Why not? It'd be kind of cool! "Do you prefer sand casting or ingots and coins?" -- Yes. 😛

I like seeing all the metals that you melt. This was great. I'd like to see what you do with the fanmail, as well as a meltdown using the mixed dust. Cheers! 👍👍✌️

The second label identified the motor as being certified for use in Explosive atmospheres (Fuel stations etc) which is probably why it had so much paint on the inside.

It's great that you can now go outside and do the sledge hammer and grinder work without disturbing the neighbors or needing the vacuum hood. I laughed as the piece of motor casing took off rolling down the hill "He's making a break for it!".
