Just a quick one today guys as I've been absolutely flat out over here. Another kilo closer to the goal and I can't wait to get a bit closer so I can get that 529 kg motor from the 1930s that I showed a sneak peak of 2 weeks ago . All the usual bits and pieces and one of my Prettiest bars to date. Now sit back relax and enjoy today's video but most importantly have an awesome weekend👊🏻😁

22:00 - The shine looks like it comes from the nickel content (the nickel coating on top of copper terminals). I believe most audio connectors are copper underneath with different coatings on top (tin, brass, nickel, silver, gold). I didn't notice any gold- or silver-plated ones in the bin, just the cheaper nickel-plated ones.

Not a long-time viewer, but I'm surprised you just melted that stuff down without knowing what metal was in it. I'm getting close to starting my own melty metal hobby, and I wouldn't want to accept making alloy bars like that.. Then again, I guess there's no real way to identify or accurately separate the metals from stuff like that without some slightly beefy chemistry equipment. I may not watch your channel often, but your videos have always inspired me to want to start making my own ingots.. And I finally have the setup and material to do it. If you like, after I make my very first bar, I could set aside a chunk to send to you, as a keepsake. A token of appreciation for inspiring me to recycle old electronics for metals and other bits.

Another thing to note, is never pour copper ONTO ice, just a plain block of it, it'll cause a massive steam explosion. There was a guy I used to watch that melted like a kilo of copper and dumped it on stuff; he poured it onto a block of ice and it exploded and sprayed molten copper everywhere. Also, never pour aluminum into a cavity in ice, TKOR did it (from a safe distance) and it exploded too.

I would have to agree. The "higher" quality audio connectors will use silver solder instead of lead-tin. It does not take much to make a difference. Bit of trivia knowledge for you, jewelry show case mock rings 0f 90-95% brass. Most are coated with other metals, gold, silver, platinum, etc. The "generic " yellow-gold bands on display are typically a mix of copper, silver, tin, and nickel. Learned this from an older jeweler when getting my wedding rings.

@MattExzy if you mean the iec plug ends, those are generally brass alloy. Though, that means there could be several metals to choose from. Including, but not limited to, tin, aluminum, lead, zinc, nickel, and more. As well as any combination of. Plus, some non-metals like zirconium, phosphorus, and arsenic. After all, we do have crystalline yttrium aluminum garnets. *** note that I am not a metallurgy person in any way. Some information stated could be inaccurate, been a while since I looked at any source material. Please check more reliable sources of information.

Actually mate it wasn’t me that did that it was one of my mates, he was very lucky. He did have some burns and stitches and if you check out the description there’s a link to the original video and the aftermath video that he uploaded 👍🏻

@bigstackD Yeah, Ijust watched the one he showed what his leg looked like after. I thought it was you, I'm glad he didn't get hurt too bad, but I did see he did have a lot of safety equipment on also. Years back, I was doing wreath welding and almost burned myself by not having an apron on (I miss those work pants )

When you put the temp on screen saying 4c I couldn't believe that considering the blue sky, green grass and trees!

Actually you could be right matey, I took the footage of the temperature and screwed around for probably 20 minutes or so in the shed before taking the outside fridge so it could’ve been more like 6.5°C but I can’t confirm exactly🤔

I expect there's some silver in that beautiful new "slumbullion" bar of yours, and maybe some gold as well. Some electrical devices are super-sensitive and call for higher chemical resistance and lower electrical resistance. As for the bottle cap experiment... Interesting, but I guess we know better now. Of course, ideally, we should always know better after each and every effort, so keep on burnin' and keep on learnin' amigo! We're lovin' the show!

Might be a little bit of gold in some of it. My favorite bits are the puppers, and when you drop a brick on the ice blocks! I also like when you take a beer break. It feels like I take one with you also, so CHEERS!

Based on those plugs being RCAs, they're made of tellurium copper, so there's that. I would also suspect aluminium, which is surprisingly common for audio jacks
