I love these videos, I never farmed but my dad did over half his life and I remember riding with my mom to take my dad his lunch and waiting on that dirt road and watching that plume of dist rising up in the air what seemed like a mile at least until my dad got to the dirt turn row, I miss my old pop and them old days and these videos bring back those memories R.I.P. mom and dad I miss you both more than life itself.

Thank you for sharing your story. The simple joy of bringing your dad lunch. The cities are ruining this country. Your memory is something most will never experience. It is more precious.

I don’t know. I get the feeling that running this old girl that hard is going to end in catastrophe. Sometimes kids don’t understand 300 less rpm off the limiter will keep the tractor and spreader online.

When big tractor power comes to visit you have to just send it! Glad to see a kid running it, they are tough tractors and very repairable

Have a 1981 4640 with 5394 hrs with bigger floater tires and 42’s / duals on the back. Weighted up pretty good. NE Iowa. Bought it when I was 20, Sep of 2023. It had 5350hrs and made 199HP on the dyno. Help out a couple of older farmers with custom work. Use it on a 5 shank JD 512 disc ripper, 20’ JD 722 soil finisher the most in spring, have a JD 714 9 shank to try out on it and a Brent 540 wagon. Had to hunt down an AC leak and fix light gremlins. Upgraded to LED’s. Also added a couple steps along the frame on each side to be able to fuel it easier. Past owner took great care of it and it got maybe 100 hours every few years on it. Sure love it!

Beautiful tractor. We run three 4440s. They are very versatile tractors. The small frame makes them maneuverable, but if you add duals and weight them down, they really pull. They came from the factory at 130 PTO HP, but if you find one that makes only 130 HP it probably needs overhauled. One of ours makes 192 HP. IH stopped making tractors in 1985 - in large part due to the 4440.

My grandfather's only remaining tractor from his days of farming. I've driven that 4440. It's so funny how it's quieter than the newer 8300 that I test drove once. It's also very comfortable and easy to learn/drive.

I've used tractors on farms in Indiana back in the 50's and 60's. John Deere G 2 cylinder and some smaller 2 cylinder JD's A Case tractor . Minneapolis Moline. I. H. Farmall. John Deere 70 John Deere 3010 and John Deere 4020. I've spent years on tractors. It seems to me that this fellow is hot rodding this tractor. No need to abuse it.

These videos always make it look like an easy, fun life, making a lot of money to be able to purchase large equipment. Its a good life, but its extremely demanding and very hard job. Ive heard people say stupid farmer, but thats furthest from the truth. A farmer has to be part scientist, biologist, ecologist, and know animal husbandry and still be able to take criticism from those eating the food that we grow.

Was it common on 4440s to add the headlights to the frontend? All of them around here have the extra front fuel tank.

You need to listen to your commentary you said when they first started as that guy pulls into the field 44 40, and 90 hp you mean a 4040 at 90 hp. Also, they were only four speed reverse. I know I drove one fact I drove to.
