Either those are some narrow roads or those are super wide machines. I’m thinking more of the latter. Wow! I imagine the grain carts have their work cut out for them when all the combines take off at pretty much the same time. Seems like they’d all fill up right about the same time. Gotta keep em moving!

Show us what the wheat heads look like on the stalk next time. Curious to see what it looks like and much seed is on one head of wheat.

We will do that next year. The 2016 wheat harvest ended about 3 weeks ago here. We will work on getting a shot of the crop in corn and soybean harvests.
@charliesnipes73138 жыл бұрын
+bigtractorpower Ok, but ya it would definitely be interesting to see what the stalk looks like as in how many ears of corn it has and what an ear of corn looks like, not that I have t seen it before because I have seen plenty just curious if it's any different, i.e. it has a ton of kernels or something. Thanks :)

@jakeziegler5998 жыл бұрын
Man they cover some ground! Will they go back to corn in 2017? How many acres do they farm all together?
@bigtractorpower8 жыл бұрын
This field will be planted in corn in 2017. The rotation is corn which is followed by wheat planted in October. The wheat is cute in June and soybeans are planted right behind the wheat. This farm raises corn, wheat, soybeans, tobacco as well as hay and cattle. I am not exactly sure how many acres they farm but it is over 20,000 acres. There is over 10,000 acres in corn each year and 10,000 acres of wheat. Plus the 10,000 acres wheat becomes 10,000 acres of soybeans in the same year so then the farm is cropping over 30,000 acres in a year.

are the combine going down the road Garnnett farms? Don't they demo a few Class combines every year for wheat harvest?
@bigtractorpower8 жыл бұрын
They are. In past years the Garnetts have hosted the CLAAS Combine school. Dealers sales and service people from across North America came to the farm to get drive time in all five Lexion combine models so they could be well informed on each class of combine for their customers. Even though the school was held at the farm the Garnetts never got to try out a Lexion. This year they did as well as the employees.

Not the model of efficiency. Spending setup and take-down time on all those for one field is ridiculous. Simplified, you have 9 combines, 9 fields. This way would mean 81 setups and take-downs, or take one combine to each of the fields. 9 setups and take-downs. It is Kentucky though.
@timwestendorf83036 жыл бұрын
AJ Lindvall then you would need 9 grain carts, 5 more than they have also even more management to see things run smoothly. Plus when they run in packs all the guys are together, just need one service/fuel truck and everyone is in the know of the game plan, i would rather have 10 combines in the same field for 2 hours vs ten different fields all day.
