Since I commented on the Case IH and Deere tracked type tractors, I thought I might offer up a few words regarding this tracked tractor. Simply put, don't be fooled by its size. The power to weight ratio is such that this tractor can pretty much pull anything, anywhere, anytime. Yes, it's that exceptional, but the thing is, like all tracked tractors today currently on the market, maintenance cost can be daunting to even the most wealthiest farming operation. I like this tractor. Its Cat D11 sort of look is quite cool, but I'm sure the overwhelming vast majority of farmers investing in such a tractor probably don't care so much how it looks versus how it actually performs. Each tracked tractor, from each of the most popular manufacturers, has its own dynamic. Finding the right tracked tractor for your particular operation might simply come down to power and operational cost, but maintenance must certainly be a major part of the overall decision. The Challenger is a great looking tractor. Obviously, it has less maintenance issues versus the quad type tractors with their 4 separate bogie systems. However, they're tracked, therefore likely to suffer from higher maintenance cost. Still, most farmers might find this tractor more nimble, more maneuverable and less of a hassle in certain type farming operations. 🚜☀🇺🇸

I find the track tractors excel in tillage. They can pull larger implements faster. The added cost can be compensated in being done with task in half the time.

Altogether, a good short informative clip. What bothers me with modern trends though, is that it looks like becoming a young persons'toy. I like to "play" too but eyesight begins to cause grief - Variefocals drive me around the twist - looking at screens and then looking out at those wide seeders, so far away!! - I can manage perfectly fine with standard Lenses or even without and drive safely - even on the Highways. HAS ANYONE had grief with those LCD displays in the extreme cold we are experiencing this current winter? No display until warms up - so can't do much takes so long to warm up!

AGCO acquired Fendt in 1997. The Fendt transmission has been used in most AGCO built tractors since 2006. AGCO acquired Valtra in 2003. Many AGCO tractors today use Valtra engines and Fendt transmission. Fendt has some of the most advanced tractors on the market. Fendt has a limited dealer network in the U.S. Offering Fendt through Challenger expands Fendt production and sales in North America. The MT700 is a Challenger built tractor with Fendt styling. Offering Challenger tractors in Fendt colors in Europe helps expand production and sales.

AGCO took over Challenger production in 2001. Truthfully CAT never made the row crop Challenger. The original 35, 45 and 55 were made at the New Holland/Versatile factory in Canada. If you look at those original models they are New Holland Genesis hood and cab.

I am a big AC fan. Mow my lawn with an AC. If you look at the Challenger logo it is the AGCO triangle with a C for Challenger in it. The AC 190XT, D-21 and the 220 has industrial versions in yellow. To me Challenger continues AC. If AGCO had not made the purchases it had many of the brands and parts would have gone away. The company made tough choices to ensure it could grow. Allis-Chalmers was a merger of two equipment companies and it bought other brands like Rumley and Monarch. Tractor production and brands have continued to evolve over the past 100 Years.

Benjamin Minor Have you paid to fix it out of warranty yet ? What the hell is wrong with an auto car anyway or can't your delicate body take the smooth shifting of the modern auto? And as for tractors, straight gearboxes and powershifts have done the the job thus far or have farmers lost the ability to find the right gear for the job ? How about power loss in cars and tractors ,hydrostatic drives lose a lot more power than straight gearboxes, untill you have run a fleet of farm machinery and realize what's involved ,keep your smart arse comments to yourself.
