Thanks for the video of these impressing huge machineries. I am not so much in soil processing technology, more in engine development and application. Hence my interest in torque curves and how that torque is transferred to the soil. Wouldn't it been interesting to look into these range of tractors presented above and their torque curves to understand where would be the sweet spot and operational range for best performance and fuel economy?

I work construction and I have farm. My best day of construction isn't as good as my worst day of farming. I do not know a shingler, a concrete worker, a framer, a drywaller, a cabinet maker, finished carpenter, or a sider who wouldn't give their eye teeth for a career of owning a farm. I know what real work is and I know what farmers considered real work. Not even the same ballpark. 18 hours on a tractor combine is better than 12 hours working construction. It's going to be four below in the morning and we are all going to be on our coveralls When the sun comes up at 7:30 will take 45 minutes for lunch to warm up and we will be working till the sun goes down at about 4:45. Short day is in the winter very long days in the summer because for every 1 hour we work in the summer is 2 to 3 hours we don't have to work in the winter dollar for dollar

@truthandfreedom885 the sad thing is I grew up as a would be 4th Gen farmer in central iowa and I'm a trim carpenter. I regret my career choice.
@truthandfreedom8852 күн бұрын
@jeffb321 Carpentry is better than an office job. Sitting in a cubicle would be the worst for guys like us. Remember Jesus was a carpenter. But when farming gets in your blood, it's a curse, you can't get it out. Those who farm and don't appreciate it, just aren't farmers at heart. I still count my blessings for the job I have. But I'd rather farm full time . Having a good 1,500 acres to farm is my dream that probably won't happen. I was able to buy 640 acres with the Money I made after 30 years of saving money owning my own construction company before land prices went absolutely nuts and I couldn't buy any more. Takes at bare minimum of 1,000 acres to make a living just farming, should have 1,500 acres. At my age I am running out of time. Take care of your body, in construction by your late 50's your body will totally give out on you if you don't be really careful. Wear knee pads when installing baseboards. Your back should last if your not framing,shingling, hanging Sheetrock or doing concrete.

There are so many tractors and Combines to see here in the United States. It’s hard to break away during the season and skip those to travel somewhere else. If I could get the extra time, I think I would head to Canada to catch several big tractors up there first.

City man here. I’m thinking the tracked tractors would be better suited for wetter climates and farming. The maintenance has to be more extensive on tracks vs conventional. When it comes to pure pulling power is it tracks or quad tires? With the pulling power and speed they are tilling at every farm is going to need a bass pond for all the farmers free time. Except the dairy gang. Godbless the dairyman.
@wcooman1694Күн бұрын
Jason, I like 'em all, although I'm admittedly a little biased against jd, and I think the Steigers looked better in original green. I know I've said it before but I'm going to keep saying it until AGCO logically explains their decision to drop artics. They could have fairly easily made minor changes to the Challenger MT9xx series, and released as Fendt, MF, or both. They already had a factory tooled & staffed to make them in Jackson, Minn. Hey AGCO, you can't make an omelet if you don't buy any eggs.

I am not a farmer. I just pretend to be one in Farming Simulator 25 but I really enjoy watching the real thing and understanding what farmers do to feed us. So, sorry if this sounds like a dumb question. What is the benefit of buying one of the big tractors with the lowest horse power? I can understand if you don't need the absolute highest amount of horsepower on your farm so you don't waste money on fuel. But, if you get the big tractor with the lowest available horsepower it seems to me that a sizeable chunk of that horsepower is used just to move a big heavy tractor. To my untrained brain, it seems like getting a big tractor with the smallest engine is a lot less efficient. Is there any truth to my thoughts or am I just talking out of my butt?
@JennyA7 сағат бұрын
From Google: A low horsepower engine in a large tractor is desirable because tractors primarily rely on torque to perform heavy work, not high horsepower, so a larger engine with lower horsepower can provide sustained pulling power at slower speeds while maintaining good fuel efficiency and better stability for larger implements, making it suitable for specific farming tasks that don't require high speeds or rapid acceleration. That makes sense since you have to pull something through dirt. I came here too because of the game and am amazed the devs really did their homework.
