We have the same setup here in michigan on our farm. Our 4960 has agleader GPS on it but we still use the markers. We planted 80 acres of corn and 60 acres of soybeans last week. It's still early for us. We farm 4500 acres and custom farms for other farmers and landowners. We run a case 1245 planter and a kinze 3600 central fill planter interplant planter for both corn and soybeans. We use both old and new johndeere machines but we have a case 340 magnum and a 290 magnum.

Love it! My dad bought 3 4960’s in the early 90’s. Great tractors. We still have 2 of them with over 10000 hours! We have guidance on one of them and still use them both. Great thing is we can still work on them if they break. Such a great tractor. I wish I could find a good one with low hours I’d buy it!

Funny Farm what guidance do you use? And do you like it and how accurate is it?
@FieldRows4 жыл бұрын
Cattleman0311 Trimble. Very accurate. It’s just as good as our newer tractors we also have a 8330 and 8430.

This tractor may not have the advantages like a magnum would have (when Case IH was comparing their tractor to the 4960 back in the 90s) but sorry Case IH you may have a tilted hood. But I have what it takes to lift up the 4960s hood on my own

This is a workhorse of a tractor. I've put many 100's of hours on a 4960 either pulling an 8 row KMC ripper bedder planting peanuts or a 12 row stack-fold 7200 john deere planting corn all on 36" rows. Awsome video BTP 🚜🚜👍👍

We had one of these in Ohio, but lost it after a few seasons as a bailer caught fire baling straw -- burnt up the whole back of the tractor before they could get the fire put out.

This kind of footage I love to see, Old Iron doing exactly what it is made for. Old 40', 50', 60' Series ar as reliable & good horses, as the Computer Driven Tractors we see today. Easy to maintain, to ride on & to balance the Farm's Economy. Next time I would like to see the 3020 or the 4020, 5020 at work.

How does the driver know if a box or more isn't seeding?
@bigtractorpower4 жыл бұрын
There is a monitor in the cab with lights that alert on each box. They have to stop and check the boxes to see how full they are.
@lynwessel2471 Жыл бұрын
There's an electronic eye in the seed tubes that watches the seeds dropping into the ground. It alerts the driver if a rows starts to seed less or stops dropping seeds.
