Oh my, thats horrible fuel economy. Could you go into more detail. whats the city-high mpg combined. freeway mpg at 70-75 mph. highway mpg at 65 MPG could be a deal breaker for me.
@defmc17 жыл бұрын
The difference for the height of the tailgate opened I believe is the 17 has a deeper bed tub with taller side walls. I've had a 04 f350 SD for 13 years and just bought a new f350 17 and that was the first thing I noticed when I dropped the gate. I work out of my truck so I'm in tune with things like that. I won't be lifting this one 8" though. It's tough getting old.
@Shipster408 жыл бұрын
One of the measurements I would be interested in is the step up into the truck. You made the statement that the trucks are getting taller which usually means a taller step for the elderly viewers or the viewers with bad knees. Ease of getting in and out is a very important aspect to a lot of viewers. Thanks

And the best spec of all on the 2017 Super Duty: 48 gallon fuel tank on the long wheel base. Nice!!!
@CR500R8 жыл бұрын
As I have mentioned in some of your previous videos about the 2017 Superduty, the cab is marketed as being bigger, and it is in many ways except for one. The door sil height (for entry and egress) and the interior head room is noticeably shorter. I'm a bigger guy, 6'4" with a longer torso than most folks. I have to duck my head way down to clear the 2017 door sil and once inside, my hair almost touches the headliner with the seat as low to the floor, as it can be set. I had no such problem with the 1999-2016 Superduty cabs. Those who are tall like me and wear a cowboy hat will notice the shortness right away. I know my gripe doesn't effect 90% of people, but I felt it important to mention. That was my only gripe with the 2017 (except for no manual transmission) haha.
@TheGamingChad.5 жыл бұрын
so the 2017 has a shorter cab?
@TheGamingChad.9 ай бұрын
could you measure it? Maybe the seat doesn't go as low as it did in the 2000's models? The Alumiduty has a flat floor that sits lower, so it should be bigger inside.

Did you really ? What changed your mind? Im thinking of trading my platinum f250 16 for a 17 or for 16 350 dually. Those 17 350 dually are really boxy at the rear
@stevetami17 жыл бұрын
Choppinblock19 yes sir. If you see my comment about the "charge wire" that I posted that was one reason. The second was comfort. I COULD NOT get comfortable in it. The seat was always to high, to low, to far forward, to far back. Just couldn't find the sweet spot. I went with a dually, my first one ever, I didn't mind the dually, it drove great. It was sometimes inconvenient that you couldn't reach over the bed rail to get to something but not to point of deal breaker. I went back to what I've always had a 350 short bed single wheel. Does all I need to do and more, in comfort.

I know this video is about Dually's......but ......Duallys typically have shorter bed rail heights as opposed to SRW. F350 SRW rail height is 59", I believe. With a standard 60 inch overhang on a 5th wheel, it forces owners to raise their hitch and/or lower their pin box making them tow nose high and possibly putting more weight on the rear 5er axel. Yes many F350 SRW's can hitch to a 5er, but is the trailer level? I see a lot of folks removing the 4 inch leaf block and swapping them for a the F250 2" block. I think the Mor/Ryde CRE3000 trailer suspension allows to raise the trailer slightly, but I don't know how exactly. I'm still trying to figure out how it works. It looks like your 2016 uses 2" blocks and the 2017 has 4", thus the higher 2017 bed rail?

@stevetami17 жыл бұрын
Here's something you might see if you can find an answer to, or a work around...One of the reasons I got rid of my 2017 had to do with the "charge wire" going to the 7-way plug at the bumper. With my previous SD (2013 model) I could back up to my camper close enough to connect my trailer plug and operate my electric tongue jack (camper sits for a few months and on board battery is dead). With the 2017 the computer decides when to send the 12v power to the plug. The best I could ever figure out is that it almost need to "see" the 12v on the trailer side to sort of backfeed to the truck to allow the computer to tell the relay it's OK to charge this trailer. The solution I came up with you had to have an extra battery available and a set of jumper cables to jump to your camper battery. Once that 12v was "seen" by the truck all would operate as normal. ''Twas a pain in the butt!! I stand to be corrected and maybe mine just had a problem, but this was my experience. Let me know if y'all find it any different. Cheers Steve

Aw man, the temptation to want to go to a 17 is tough to resist when you look at the sweet platinum or KR. Honestly though there is nothing wrong with the 15 and down trucks they are still a horse and Ford did a great job of making sure some of the issues that some folks had with the 11's didn't repeat in the 12 and ups. We have 10 of the 6.7's and 12 6.2's and we are still rockin 4 v10's that are being phased out for the 6.2's and the company only had a few issues with the 6.7's. Two had turbos go due to the ceramic ball bearings grenading, one had a piston failure that took out the engine ( replaced under warranty ) and one with a boost issue. We did have a few with the famous pull over reduced power message and that was sensor failure which was an easy fix once we finally got the sensors in ( and that took a bit, then they went and bought as many as they could get their hands on and started to stick an extra into each truck as a spare Great comparison, some people were complaining that the new 17's looked like a F150 but honestly I just dont see it myself, and your comparison and measurements sure dont make it look anything like an F150's measurements Nice review, and keep them coming loving the different content your channel has!

Thank you sir. I'm finding that I love my 2016 truck more and more also. I love the overbuilt qualities. The cab does feel significantly different than the F150 while similar at the same time...if that makes sense. Maybe the sheer size of the Super Duty is the difference.
@screamindemon8118 жыл бұрын
Hmmm I never thought of this and I dont know if you mentioned it but is your tire size on your 15 the same as the 17 ? I have heard some of the 17's have the 20 inch rims on them . Just curious.
@BigTruckBigRV8 жыл бұрын
The 2017 F350 DRWs all have 17s and the F450s have the same 19.5 Continentals that I have. The tires on the F450 are .5" taller based on tires size comparison.
@screamindemon8118 жыл бұрын
Ah I see. Probably being a PITA here with ten million questions but I couldn't really tell from the video but is the indentation on the control arm on the 2017 the same depth as the 11 to 16's indentation. I looked at the video a few times and I swear it looks a little deeper on the 17. Just wondering if maybe that is helping give the 17 a better turning radius for the tight turns one may take.
@BigTruckBigRV8 жыл бұрын
Screamin Demon: the F450 has a far better tight turning radius because of the wide track axle. That holds true to both 2016 and 2017 F450s.

I'm planning to get the same fifth wheel that you have. Wondering whether the dual rear wheels are necessary. The single rear wheel F350 does have the towing capacity. Any opinion?
@BigTruckBigRV7 жыл бұрын
+Jeffrey Jones: either would be more than enough in most cases. A Dually will be more stable feeling in high crosswinds. It will also provide far more payload capacity. The stability isn't just because of the dual rear wheel, but also because of the stiffer rear springs prevent side to side oscillation.
@jeffreyjones59967 жыл бұрын

Also, the 4.10 geared F350 actually now has a higher payload capacity as well as higher towing capacity (both conventional and fifth wheel) than my 2016 F450... Actually you make a good point. I find myself having to type this exact explanation quite often though. The F450 is simply a marketing method. The truck still has a Max Gross Vehicle Weight rating of 14k, just like the RAM 3500 and the F350. The F450 actually has a LOWER payload rating than the F350 and the RAM. It's F450 designation is meant more for TOWING capacity than anything. All Heavy Duty 1-ton PICKUPS have just about the same capacities now. However, the F450 Chassis Cab IS a Class 4 truck and has a higher payload capacity (by far) than the F450 pickup. You should go back in my old videos and look for the F450 Chassis Cab comparison video I did. it explains it best.
