Well done as always Randy. Have a cup of Joe on me, and stay warm ☕️

Looks great. I’d recommend fitting some fenders. Nothing worse than being wet and cold at the same time… but then you have been at this longer than I have - you know what you’re doing.
@LocojoeКүн бұрын
Yeah I did think about that. We'll see if I come up with something. You definitely have more experience with bad winter weather riding than I do. Me it's more of a novelty a few times a year. Thanks Josh.

The bull moose bars were a great choice, but not very adjustable. I love the basket. Looks like the studded tires will come in handy over the next week of so. Thanks for another great video.
@Locojoe3 сағат бұрын
I see others running the bullmoose bars and I want to be one of the cool kids but they just don’t feel quite right and yeah the lack of adjustability. Did get out for a bit yesterday in this mess and hope to again today. I assume you got it even worse out there. Thanks for watching..
@riskyraxКүн бұрын
Oh yeah that thing looks sweet. I thought the gold bar combo was spot on but the basket ties it together 🤘🏻
@LocojoeКүн бұрын
Thank you. I did contemplate the gold bars for a bit and even thought I might paint them a yellow that I had that would have matched the yellow decals of the bike but I'm just not real fond of those bars. A little narrow and swept back too much for my taste. Thanks for watching.

Nice build. I think remember that stem on another build. Good for you for getting out on a New Year's day ride. Perhaps, that should be something that I adapt as well. I like those plastic pedals. We all seem to be going for bigger platforms nowadays and decent plastic pedals seem to be just as good as aluminum pedals and they don't scratch other bikes and things in your garage either.
@Locojoe3 сағат бұрын
Thank you. Yeah that stem was previously on my aluminum straight bar bike of the same color. We’ve been doing the new years ride for over 20 years now I believe. Usually just a short ride but a good way to kick off the new year. I agree on the pedals. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Another good build on this frame, probably better than last time.

16:27 that hole in your bench top would drive me nuts.
@LocojoeКүн бұрын
Thanks! Yeah the bench top lol… surprisingly I think you’re the first to ever mention it. It’s almost like a trademark of this channel by now lol. It has gotten bigger over time. I’m mostly just too lazy to replace it. I do plan to this year though. Thanks for watching and the comments.

Looks good randy! I at least got to see the Moose bars on a bike which looked great! LOL I'll see you went with the more comfortable option which is ideal. Hopefully you had a good weekend!
@LocojoeКүн бұрын
Thanks Willie. Yeah something about the bullmoose bars... they have a slight downward angle I'm not sure about. I did like the looks of them on this bike and I'm determined to put them on something eventually. Have a good week.
@pokey764idsКүн бұрын
@Locojoe 😆 I hear you. I love Moose bars put your right they do have a downward angle about them. You have a good week as well!

I was thinking of making a winter bike. Great job. I liked the pop of the yellow grips better but it’s your bike, lol.
@Locojoe3 сағат бұрын
Thanks. I could’ve just put the studded tires on some other bike, but this gave me an excuse to build up a new one. Yeah, I think I really like the yellow grips better but in this bike’s previous build, it had quite a bit of color so just to be a little different this time I thought I’d tone it down. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Pretty nice build, good job, maybe I should build my old schwinn mesa into a winter beater.
@Locojoe3 сағат бұрын
Thanks. I could have just put the studded tires on another bike I already had built up, but it was more fun to build another one. Thanks for watching.

That bad weather is here! 1/5/25 Can't wait to see the ride video.
@LocojoeКүн бұрын
Yes it is. Ride video... if I get the nerve to go out. Was hoping that going to the trouble to put this bike together would ward off the bad weather lol. IDK what you're getting there but we had it all. Thunderstorms, freezing rain, ice, snow but it was really the 25mph wind that kept me inside today. Thanks for watching.
@bryandhispupКүн бұрын
@Locojoe love your channel. I'm just up in KC. Ice then about 10" snow.

Good build I like the yellow hand grips. Have a great new year!
@LocojoeКүн бұрын
Thanks. Yeah I was torn on the grip color and decided to keep the colors a little more subtle. Last time I had this bike built up it was more colorful. Happy new year to you! Thanks for watching.

Happy New Year to you two. My son was riding his stumpjumper around in the snow yesterday.
@LocojoeКүн бұрын
Thank you and happy new year to you. That's great your son got out enjoying the snow by bike and a on Stumpjumper none the less. We got the snow but it's atop ice and we had 25+ mph wind today so I didn't go out. Maybe tomorrow.

Thanks and yes we are. We got it all... thunderstorms, ice, snow and 25+ mph wind. The wind is what made me decide to just sit today out. Thanks for watching and the comment. Have a good week.

I got another random question for ya, simply because of curiosity, but what's the most times you've built up the same frame, into different configurations? I've heard you mention multiple times that you've "had this frame built up before", and it made me wonder. 🙂 I don't remember what configuration it was in before, but I do remember seeing this frame in prior videos. Bike looks good! Take care and have a great week, you two!

I know what your saying about freezing cold garage a bummer
@Locojoe3 сағат бұрын
Yes. I do have the electric space heater which helps a little but you have to be standing right in front of it.

Sporting those elton john shades with faux rhinestone studded frames to go with those studded tires? 😂

Im in Texas not much snow ever but we do get ice never owned studded tires would they work for ice on the road?
@LocojoeКүн бұрын
From what little experience I have with the studded tires I think ice is what they help the most on. I found the biggest thing is to help stop your front end from sliding out from under you.
@HDdyna2008Күн бұрын
Thats one part of the bike I'm not very familiar with as far as adjusting (rear derailleur)
@Locojoe3 сағат бұрын
Even though I’ve always had bikes with the derailers, I didn’t used to mess with them. It is intimidating. All my tinkering was just with single speed, coaster brake bikes, but eventually, I just started working on them with the help of KZbin and can manage well enough now but far from an expert on them. Thanks for watching.
@moosehand8721Күн бұрын
So how much snow did you get today? Last nite you had terrible ice on the news clip on youtube. Chanute just got a white coat was about it. Im in tulsa and it didnt amount to anything here. A squall of snow this mng then its just very light flurries now.
@LocojoeКүн бұрын
I think about 3.5 inches so far and yeah that's on top of the ice. I heard farther north around Salina got 12 inches.
@moosehand872121 сағат бұрын
@Locojoe I'm glad you missed out on the lions share of that.
@catdadproblemsКүн бұрын
Do you use studded for both front and back wheels or just the back usually? Are they worth the price?
@LocojoeКүн бұрын
First off let me state that we don't get a whole lot of snow, ice etc... or at least it doesn't stick around long. I don't do all that much riding in the stuff. Last year I just ran a studded on the front which helped from what I recall. In my limited experience I don't really have issues with the rear not getting traction as much as with the front sliding out from under me. My set of studded tires were gifted to me. I probably never would have bought them for myself considering how little use I'd probably get out of them. For someone that rides in the bad stuff on a more regular basis I imagine they would be worth the cost. Hope that all made sense. Thanks for watching.

Like the purple and black tires looks like a bad bike.
@LocojoeКүн бұрын
Thanks! In a previous incarnation of this bike I had it built up with more color but I kinda like it toned down now. Looks a little meaner. Since the making of this video a couple days ago i went ahead and painted the stem same purple as the fork. Thanks for watching.
