Dear Phil, you're videos are awesome. Keep on filming. From where I come from, I can't buy a decent MTB, we only have bikes that will make you laugh, they are worse than the walmart bikes most riders mock. The only bike parts are sold in chinese shops and the last bike park shut down some 20 years ago, you had to be a member to ride there too. Anyway, thanks for the videos.

phil! this is my new fav bike channel. can you do a video sometime about seat height AND seat angle (how high vs low has an effect on various types of riding)? ive heard so many rumors about where your seat should go, that i would love to hear your take!

Phil, excellent informative video...especially the bike diagrams showing the measurements and changes in geometry! Otherwise It wouldn't be possible to clearly explain that whole lot of information in less than four minutes... Keep uploading your great videos as usual!

Thank you Carlos. I thought this video was going to be quicker than it was, and then each time I explained one change, I realized I had to explain something else related.

You may not be able to answer this question in time.its Black Friday and I want to get a GT aggressor pro. I'm 6ft tall and torn between the large and the medium frame.i want to wheelie and manual I've heard some tall riders use a medium frame for the nimbleness to throw the bike around and the large is harder to do this.i seen you use a medium frame. The large frame has a slight bend in the top tube the medium has a straight tube to the back wheel.which do you think would be better?

Hey Phil, First of all i love the channel, second i have a question, i'm waiting on my Trance to arrive, should be here any day, I know its old geometry so i was hoping to change that, what i would like to know is what do you guys think of those Headset Bearing Kits to increase the Head tube Slack? I've been checking out a set, it's the Cane Creek Angleset, this particular set i'm eyeing increases the slack 2 degrees, I was thinking of having it installed and increase the Slack from 67 degrees to 65. What do you guys think?

amazing video Phil. Might as well have your own website and brand. I love your video but I would like it if you invest in a pop filter for your mic as there are a lot of pops in the audio
@SkillsWithPhil8 жыл бұрын
+Switch I think the main problem with the audio is that I accidently left in a bunch of adjustments I was playing around with and then not just copied it to all the clips once, but twice. Not sure how I managed that. With that being said I didn't have a pop filter. Thanks for the suggestion!

Are there key geometry aspects to consider for performing the manual/bunny hop you are doing at 1:20? Specifically, front center, chainstay and wheelbase. For example does front center have more of an impact over chainstay in the ability to loft the front wheel. I have a very short torso and have had problems lofting the front wheel on a 'modern geometry' On one 456 hardtail with its long front center.

ive been riding a 29er FS for about a year.. i have always had trouble getting the frontwheel high enough for a manual.. yesterday did try my friends 26er HT and i could get the frontwheel up like nothing.. even without preloading the forks suspension... Ive thought for a long time that its just cuzz i need to practice. cuzz 29er is harder to get up and fs also makes it harder.. but now Im starting to wonder if i ride a too big bike ? it seems like i cant get my buttom far enough behind the rear wheel axel. Its a Fuel ex 6. virtual 17.5" and actual 16" My height is 1.78m.

I have a mtb that has a seat stay that attaches to an adjustable shock mount. Because of the way it attaches it allows me to increased and decreased the seat stay chain stay angle. When I do this the seat post angles back, bottom bracket lowers and appears to change my fork angle. Cool features but how does this help me?

Phill do you get a new Trek bike every year and do you always go for the Remedy
@SkillsWithPhil8 жыл бұрын
+Josh Melvin my sponsors (Danny's cycles) lends me two bikes a year. At the end of the season I give them back and if I stay with them the next season I get two new bikes to use for that season. As a racer who puts equipment through a lot it's an ideal situation.

Can i like shorten the stem and increase the length of handlebars on XC bike,and still not ruin bike geometry,cause in my country there is no so much good trail bikes,and im thinking to change some things on better xc bike to get at least the 't' of the 'trail' bike,what do u think about that hahah?
@SkillsWithPhil8 жыл бұрын
+Forest 1 you can get a bit more out of an XC frame if you shorten the stem and use wider handle bars but, XC bikes have steeper head angles and shorter wheelbases. So it's not perfect but it should give you a better feeling bike.
