Such an incredible bicycle infrastructure, it's bicycle paradise.

There are a lot of examples of much better standards on this channel, There were a few times where somebody with a hand-cycle or cargo bike would have been challenged due to width, and there's quite a few lights. So if this is incredible you should see the likes of Houten and Groningen!

A dark and windy day but somehow still inviting. I like that entrance door thresholds to buildings are at ground level, no stairs to climb to get inside. Makes life easier for people like me.

This is so peaceful. I could only imagine riding my bike on a peaceful path like this. not in my city, roads here are made for gas guzzling and noisy vehicles. there's no infrastructure for safe cycling as of now. *sigh*

Really enjoy these videos. My city has been adding to our bicycle infrastructure making it easier to ride safely in a still very car dominated environment. For the first time I started riding to work. It amazes me the things I see while riding that I missed when I drive. Much more peaceful commute.

Definitely a nice ride indeed. Beautiful country with designated bike lane. Cheers.

I'm curious - is it mandatory to use the lights on a controlled crossing, or is it acceptable to cross without using them if there's no traffic? For example at 2:02?
@xFD2x6 жыл бұрын
It's mandatory. Although, in this situation you might see a lot of cyclists going through the red light, and I doubt the police would do anything about it when they see you going through the red light. When you don't hinder other traffic in any way, there is hardly anyone annoyed about that behavior.
@xcrementlord67796 жыл бұрын
If the police isn't busy they will talk to you if you cross with a red light. So always check for any cops around and then go ;)
@stonezone96704 жыл бұрын
That red light is meant for the fire station next to it, nothing ever comes out of it during normal traffic hours so most people just cross with a red light

The blue and yellow bike you can see in the end-shot. These rental single speed bikes with back pedal brakes are of the shared bike system of the Dutch Railways.

Why do people continue to walk on bicycle paths instead of the paths made for walking?
@Erik-ou3tl6 жыл бұрын
In this video, it seem to be because either they cycle path is dual-purpose, or the sidewalk is very inconvenient for the pedestrians. I grew up in Alkmaar, and I remember doing exactly the same thing on a few of the spots featured because following the sidewalk was a detour. in other videos/cities, it is likely that the people walking on the bicycle path are tourists that don't know any better.
@mourlyvold76553 жыл бұрын
Besides, we don't really get hysterical about rules in general. Most people know what they're doing and behave accordingly. We didn't witness horrible situations in this video, did we?

There seems to be very little population , maybe the population has moved elsewhere , I will say it's obvious its not in the UK as the cyclists appears to be obeying traffic lights etc .

09:46 Bad! Passing on the left when the cyclist ahead is signaling a left turn: no way.
@inepthabit6 жыл бұрын
Not bad at all, the cyclist couldn't turn left yet because of the oncoming cyclists anyway. Also, she isn't even allowed to turn left there technically, that's not a cycle path.
@albernal66536 жыл бұрын
yeah I saw that too and commended on it. see above
@HansVerburg6 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure nobody it that scene even gave it a thought. If anybody, it's the lady taking the turn who is in the wrong for not looking behind her before starting to signal. What do you think he should have done?
@martijnvv80316 жыл бұрын
Only bad thing was that she didn't look over her shoulder....
@johanwittens77125 жыл бұрын
@@HansVerburg Hmm In a car it's the other way around. You are not allowed to overtake someone who is signalling to make a left turn. I've been cycling my whole life and always was taught this same rule translates to bikes. There is no clear official law about it in Belgium, but it seems locical and courtious to me too to let the bike who wants t turn left go first just as you'd be obligated to do if it was a car? But yes, she had to wait anyway for the oncoming traffic, so i'd have overtaken her too since i 'd know i'd be way ahead of her before she even reached the turn.... :)
