Your permission to torque series gave me such an inspiration! I've had to sell my house because of the bitter sweet memories of a rather vemonous ex. Spent 8 years with her, bought the house together and went completely tits up but in the midst of the depression I was watching your permission to torque. It gave me the inspiration and motivation to just fuck off for a month to Europe on my old BMW. I started to get better, the mood changed, the mindset changed and I'm so glad that this ex is an ex. Taught me a lot of life lessons but the new me is so much better because of it. This trip that I've planned is a closing of one chapter and an opening of another and doing it on my bike that I'm absolutely in love with. If you ever feel upset or depressed just remember, you're inspiring people!

Chris - good for you for being so open about your meds. Usually a taboo subject and one which so many of us are ashamed to talk so openly about. “Inspirational” is the best way to describe it.
@juicy959210 ай бұрын
That maybe was the case 20 years ago. It's allover now. Maybe little too much. Everybody has issues now. It has not been taboo forever now. Don't say this cause you think it's cool to say this.

A lot of those meds are addictive ('ka-jing') with nasty side effects. There was a time when 'alternative medication' was the norm, before the Rockefellers flooded the market with their big pharma treatments not cures/side-effects/vilify the natural products/vilify the scientists who complained/promote their products etc to create the twisted 'treatments' we have today. What with that and the jab side effects as well, god knows what's going on..

Excellent news Chris on all fronts from the sound quality of the mic, the planned trip to Morocco and getting off the meds - they have their place in many people’s lives but if mentally you’re up for it then go for it!! The last Permission2Torque series and trip out West was brilliant on all levels. Keep on doing what you do 😎 PS: would love one of your bikes but my overdraft doesn’t agree 🙄 PPS: keep the current GS 🇲🇦

Definitely use the GSA you have Chris. You'll probably only do a very minor amount of off road and you can just put the full crash bars on it. You won't damage it if you have the right protection on it, just replace the bars after the trip. You would possibly lose more on depreciation selling it now than the cost of all that gear. You should go and do the off road skills course though, would be very handy to have the training and really shows how amazingly capable the GS/GSA is and how to use the electronics to your advantage off road.

Hey Chris. I've been swallowing Citalopram pills for a good 8 months now because the depression got so bad i had no clue what to do anymore. It's been with me for well over 20 years, but in 2023 i cracked. Can totally relate to what you're going through, even if the circumstances are different. Riding a bike was always my therapy, but i don't own one anymore. Thanks for sharing your personal adventures. I hope you get a slice of comfort out of it.

I was prescribed citalopram as a last ditch treatment for severe referred pain causing a non stop migraine (like years of a migraine). Took about 4 or 5 days to "kick in", I couldn't last 2 days after that. The level of numbness and dissociation was too much. I felt like all the risk awareness built up over growing up was all gone, like it was highly likely I'd walk in front of a bus because the awareness was just not there. Anyway, point is that I took it not because I had to, I feel for those who do need it to help psychologically.

It has a plenty of rugged rocky roads stuff (real ouchie to crash and prepare for punctures), mountain stuff, desert stuff and crazy riding for miles and miles on the beach under the full moonlight stuff. A local guide/cook is a good thing to have at the more remote places. Don't buy a 1300GS for that trip, BMW is replacing the new engines after like 700kms. :D

I agree with having a beaten up bike for adventures. Its what i did with my Tiger 1200 Rally Pro, i opted for an ex triumph experience bike because it was £5k cheaper than new and had 3k miles on it. Its got its scuffs but i just take it out off road and enjoy it, use as intended.
