I was surprised to see an aftermarket filter available for my 74 Kawasaki MT-1 75. The original is a coarse gauze and perforated steel cylinder. One time a small thin spear of grass got through to the carburetor and lodged in a jet. Today, I would take off the gauze and make a foam wrap. Small carburetors can get more easily tripped than something with larger orifices.

Man, I just did my air filter too, for the first time though, what a pain 😂 I'm glad I ran an air filter sock over it though, there were sand and leaves on top - it kept most of the chocolate cake out

perfect timing, just when I was about to do my klx 230 spring checks! Do please continue to post useful info on both klx 230 maintenance and upgrades, on top of your lovely adventures as, there is little info on it on the internet :)

I love the bush mechanic tips in your videos. I'll see if Bunnings stock that roofing tape ;-) My favourite product for these sorts of repair is exterior grade roofing silicon sealant. Plaster a load of that over the area, and air or water would be unlikely to get in. But the roofing sheet you used would hold the box together better

I was pretty sold on the roofing tape haha, totally recommend. Silicon is great for sealing too but like you say, the sheeting component is going to do a better job of holding the fractured airbox together. Poor old girl haha, I'm not so gentle on her. "One lady rider..."
