Considering that 125cc are for 16 years old, I think its not expensive or cheap. If it was cheap we would have a LOT of teenagers on roads. And ofc if u r 18+ it makes no sense spending 5k for a 125cc

I agree , they can have all the fancy tech but the bottom line is that they will only do 65-70 mph. You simply don't need that much tech to do those speeds , just a decent set of tyres. Spend a couple of grand at most then move on from a 125 a.s.a.p to something bigger. You can get a really nice used 600 for the price of one of these new 125's. The Honda CBR 600 would be my pick , ultra reliable and almost bomb proof !!

What I do need is not a 125 ccm bike, but a really light one. My Honda CB125R weights 130 kg. Perfect. It just runs about 105 km/h with all tricks applied. That’s bad. Now I want to upsize back to around 300-500 ccm but still be light.

You need a Yamaha MT03. Only 167 kg wet, low seat height and 42 bhp. Had mine for two years now, would like to change but can’t find anything better.

I'm on a 2023 R125. Passed the CBT about 3 months ago and already done 1900 miles. Magnificent bike, comfortable to ride at 6'3 (a little bit cramped in full tuck), amazing to throw through corners (and if your balls are big enough you can keep up with bigger bikes through the corners). No motorways on Jersey so can't give comments on motorway journeys, but I have hit 78 on it with some room for more. Traction control seems to work quite well, had quite a few near-drops in the wet if it weren't for TCS

I cant believe how slow modern 125 bikes are,back in the day a 100 mph was reachable on a decent 2 stroke.Youre lucky if you see 60 mph nowadays.

The cheaper 125's will hit about 60-65mph ish. Top end ones like the Yamaha range, hit around 85mph.

you mentioned that the caballero bikes larger cc models use Yamaha engines, its funny that this 125 (that doesnt - apparently) has a 125 engine with VVA and a slipper clutch (the same as the xsr125 from yamaha)

It's amazing how everyone is an expert 😂. If there was no market for top spec 125s they wouldn't exist. There is also customer support, which from some agencies and importers is non existent. A cheap bike isn't cheap if it breaks regularly and takes months to get parts to fix it 😮😮

Mt 125, R1, suzuki gsx, all mega expensive to insure! Avoid these and buy an older, low theft risk bike, like a Honda cb125f, or YS125 ect. Most of the new Chinese bikes are unreliable due to being cheaply made. Just my wisdom of riding motorcycles for 43 years.

I have over the years from 9 years old been riding scooters 50cc, up to 650cc. Hondas, Suzuki, cz, condor , zontes and now also have a Suzuki vx shaft drive trike . I'm now 60 and it's my humble opinion and experience is Honda is the best bike but my 2019 zontes Scorpion 125 which I bought on a whim has ,apart from a failed rectifer been surprisingly good... certainly more reliable than a Suzuki ts 100 I once had...it was a nightmare. In the last few years the Chinese bikes have improved a lot , especially in the last 3 or 4 years and I would buy one again no question. I've had mine 4 years now and about £25 spent plus servicing costs.And I left it out under a cover and starts on the button.. Speed is 70 mph as is the speed limit so no issues there and economy is about 80+mpg as I'm nearly 6' and a good build...so it's a great bike all said and done. Only rust is the exhaust pipe... stainless steel complete exhaust under£200 which is reasonable and will look like a two year old bike when done.

I bought last year a Zontes 125cc 15 HP.Full Bosch ABS standard,Gel Seat,12.5 L fuel tank,Slipper Clutch,High Compression Ratio,Stainless Steel Exhaust,USB Dual,Keyless,ect. 3000€ and way better looking than all these bikes.Trust me,whenever I went city,people would ask me that is a great bike,they could not believe it is only 125cc,it looked beautiful.I sold to a friend after being used by same 15 slow HP. Matter of fact all these are restricted to 15HP. I do not know what is the point selling these bikes? They are like snails,included my former Zontes. Beginner bike? So just throw some 4500 €,and then you need bigger bike. Some of these 125cc looks very good looking,but they are same path like 2005 Nissan Almera 1.5 dCi with 80 HP,grandma's car.They look good power to weight without driver? A 200cc with 15 HP would be more healthy and reasonable than a 125cc,engine size of a 2L coca cola!

A list of totally impractical bikes, mostly for boy racers fantasising they are on a more powerful machine, with uncomfortable riding positions, mostly way over-priced and clearly a list made by people who are desperate to appear trendy and with it. If you are new rider and want a practical motorcycle that is also fun, almost none of these are going to be useful and almost all are way over-priced. No mention of Zontes, Voges or other quality Chinese makes that now rival European and Japanese bikes at a fraction of the price.

well, my advice, don't buy any 125 unless you have to, I am 68 with decades of no claims, I had a Yamaha 125 scooter, and my insurance renewal was 428 from 190. Just got an Enfield Meteor350 insurance was 190. This makes NO sense, Bikers are being ripped off.
