The Ortlieb saddle bag is quite nice, with it's air release thingy that helps when packing.

Good review, it will b interesting to hear how you go on with it on the trail. I have the Ortlieb handle bar roll and seatpack which I have found superb. I also have the Blackburn Elite frame bag that u used to have. That is the worse piece of kit I have ever owned. The velcro divider is useless as the velcro strip is tiny, The RF welding on the top attachment strip has come away and my final gripe for a waterproof bag the waterproof zips let water in after 10 mins. I would have sent it back if I hadn't bought it from a German online store.

Yeah that velcro bit is pretty useless i was always getting home and finding Ginsters in the bottom of the bag 😂 and yeah i used to have to flip the bike to get water out of it i think it gets in through the bottom zipp where the hose would go. I bought it from bikestar which is i think is Netherlands and i gotta say they were great just sent me a QR code to show at the post office and gave me a full refund.

Tbf if your priorities are for a bag that will last a long time without breaking and will always be 100% waterproof then you dont want extra pockets or dividers as they will either fail eventually (zips) or allow water in. This bag compromises where you need it to, you cant have everything!

after a while would you stick with this or maybe go for the zip version? I would chose the rc but there is a zip second hand for sale at the good price point. I'm wondering.

The Blackburn Outpost is fantastic! The other one I looked at was the Moose which was on Amazon! The Ortlieb is silly money for a plastic sack! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I used the original outpost when I cycled the coast of Britain, back then it was good (wasn't much on the market then) but as anything with a zip, it's always the first point of failure, I have also had and have the newer version of the outpost frame bag. The first one I had only lasted 3/4 months before the zip failed, and they are never waterproof. I have just accepted it's not and put a drain hole in the one on my sonder. I would agree this bag is overpriced, but so is the Blackburn one, it's about the same price as this one. But I'm confident it will outlast anything with a zip. And it's actually waterproof. It's been on my bomb track since this video and apart from them little rubber things occasionally getting brittle and breaking, it's the one bag I own that I don't ever worry about.
