Alan put up another late Thanksgiving/early Christmas meet-up this time at Glen Camp in West Fork of the San Gabriel Mountains. Display an Adventure Pass in your car at parking along Highway 39 then ride your bike for about 6 miles along an asphalt road all the way to the camp. The road is closed for public vehicle but you can enjoy your bike ride parallel to West Fork river. The camp was nice with trash bins and toilet. Fishing is also popular in this area. A mile and a half you can reach the main attraction, the Cogswell Dam built in 1934. It's a Rock Fill kind of dam, a bit different from Morris Dam and San Gabriel Dam. Cogswell Dam used to be called the San Gabrie Dam No. 2 in the early days. After its completion in December 1935, it was christened Prescott F. Cogswell Dam, in honor of the county supervisor who had been a pioneer in calling for flood control efforts.
Thanks to Alan for this wonderful event and it was great to seeing aging some of the old familiar faces and meeting new ones.
