I gotta tell you, I normally don't leave comments on these videos. But you rocked this! Awesome footage. Made me homesick. No unnecessary chatter, just an outstanding ride..... Thanks Brother

I appreciate the feedback! Arizona is a beautiful State, I actually went back last fall to do some hiking in the Grand Canyon. Gonna get start on editing footage from one of my hikes there soon so that I can share it here. Take care

I'm riding through Idaho during my bike ride across America and this video makes me want to explore it a more while I'm out there. Man it's so beautiful! My route is closer to Spokane than Boise, hopefully it's still as beautiful of a ride. I'm really glad your videos were recommended!

I never really wanted a drone before. But your videos keep telling me I should get a drone! Your drone work is so amazing!
@PrentissC3 жыл бұрын
Oh cool! I've always wanted to do a bike ride across America west to east. I've done a North to South crossing along the great divide trail and it was beautiful! I wasn't into making videos then, but even if I were I'm not sure I would have brought a drone for such a long trip, although today's drones are much lighter and easier to travel with. You can obviously make a good travel video without a drone, and sometimes I don't want to bring it along, but the drone definitely adds an element of scale and shows how small I am in such a vast area. Even if you don't get to ride through Idaho very much during your cross country trip, you'll see plenty of other great places. From experience I know that Montana is also very beautiful if you enjoy mountains and large natural areas! Are you on instagram or some other social media platform where you will post pictures or video updates of your ride across America? I'm interested in following!

@@PrentissC Hope you do one day and you film it. Your videos are really cool, I've probably watched most of of your bikepacking videos already. And the divide, I think I'd like to do that too in the future. I don't think I'm ready for it yet though. I agree about drones, it's not a priority camera for me. The camera I'm going to get for this trip is a 360 camera. You can do a lot of different shots like third person. So I can better film myself by myself. As a fat person I want to be grateful for what I can do with the body I have. I'm aiming to get better at filming myself. So 360 is what I'm getting first but how you used your drone sparked ideas. I am very excited to see Montana and you're right, I never really thought much about Idaho until I saw this video. I'm gonna appreciate what I see. I am on Instagram @recapturinglife_ and my tiktok will have more up to date videos about it too @fueledbyluvvv. And thank you!
@PrentissC3 жыл бұрын
@@RecapturingLife actually I've been thinking about getting a 360 camera, because I've seen some great self-shot biking videos using them, and the newest versions of them are getting better as far as quality goes... I think. As for getting better filming yourself, just start by making short action videos for practice, you'll get the hang of it! I also learned a lot from watching other channels from people who are much more knowledgeable than myself on how to self film an adventure. Channels like PathLessPedaled or RyanVanDuzer, oh or that show Survivorman. Anyways, looking forward to following your future adventure or whatever leads up to it. I'm now following you on here and instagram, I don't have tiktok though.

@@PrentissC yeah I've been looking into them and the apes that go with them make it a whole lot more accessible. Seems like a good too. But yes I look forward to your videos as well. I'm really glad I found your channel. It's cool to see. And thanks for following my story too.

Great job on the video - and music - the route has been on my list for a couple years now and just getting back to some research hoping to do it this year. In 2016, I spent 3 months on a moto and traveled to that road where the rock/mud slide was. I was camped just before the slide at some CG / Hot Springs - and hiked across the slide and crossed the river as you did. (Wish I had had my bike at that point!). Thanks for posting!

I've been thinking about some more local to me bike packing routes for this year , out here on the east coast, so upstate NY and or Vermont, etc. Admittedly, we don't have the grand off-road routes out east as the ones out west, but I'll try and do something. Also I've been branching off and hiking more since creating this video, and one of the big hikes I want to get to and record this year is a hike of Mt. Katahdin in Maine. Anyways, thanks for watching!

Thanks, I'm looking forward to a new bikepacking adventure this year that I hopefully can also get it on video. Although a Mountain bike is preferred, it's defiantly possible on a cross if thats all you have, just put on the biggest tires you can fit on your bike. You should defiantly get out and do this route!

Oh and before I put out false information out there, I mean it's do able on a x bike as long as you don't plan on taking any of the single track options obviously

@PrentissC6 жыл бұрын
Jose Mata thank you! I always check www.weather2travel.com/ to get an idea for the weather ahead of time for the given time of year and region I plan on traveling to. I believe summer is the best time for this trip. I went in late July. Its was hot at the peak of the day, but nights and mornings were cool, and I didn't experience much rain, but was prepared for it. Good luck to you if you do this route, its definitely worth it if you're prepared.

Great video. How was it overall going through the large washout? I’m doing the route with my son this summer and just want to make sure it’s not an issue (deal-breaker). Also, did you use the ACA map or just the garmin? Thanks!
@PrentissC6 жыл бұрын
Light Racer Thanks! The washout after featherville was doable but I probably wouldn't go through there again alone, I had to cross the river at one point, the water only came up to my knees at the place I crossed, but wasn't easy while pushing a loaded bike. As you may know, this region got lots of snow during the winter last year, it may be different for you this summer,maybe call the local officials to get info on current road conditions there as you near your trip. There is a workaround by sticking to the paved roads out of featherville towards Hailey if you really don't want to deal with the washout. I mostly used my garmin etrex 10 for navigation ,but I also had the map, the map had loads of useful information that my (basic model) gps didn't have like elevation profiles, camping locations, resupply, etc.. Hope that helps, have fun on your trip!
@lightracer86326 жыл бұрын
Prentiss C appreciate the response and the beta on the trail. One last question...where did you find the gps track? I use an etrex30, so I’m hoping the map will just be a supplement as long as I can find the track. Thanks again.
@PrentissC6 жыл бұрын
Light Racer I brought the gps track directly from adventure cycling. They call it the digital data set. www.adventurecycling.org/cyclosource-store/route-maps/idaho-hot-springs-mountain-bike-route/sp/idaho-hot-springs-mt-bike-route-digital-data-set/
