I cycled the length of Japan on the Japanese Odyssey bikepacking event.
The Japanese Odyssey is a 1500mile free route bikepacking event across Japan. Check out this video to see what bikes some of the other participants were using for the event.
More information about the event can be found here:

Indy Fab is still around! I think they had an owner who mismanaged it but the original owner is back

@@joshibbett I think a majority of their frame builders started firefly when they moved in 2010ish. So not sure who is still around from the old days

@@buckfiftyplustax Yes I did gather there was some politics around ownership etc. At least the brand is still going, its a bit of an icon in my opinion

Always enjoy these vids so thank you. Titanium and steel seem popular. Is that preferred over carbon? Out of curiosity are ebikes allowed at these types of events.. would they have their own category..

Curious as to how well the front wheel drive recumbent climbs on steep gravel roads.

From what I hear it wasn't ideal on the gravel sectors

@@joshibbett In Section 14 I had to walk.... but gravel in the flat or downhill is no problem and fun.. Recumbents have a lower center of gravity.

@@marcelgraber4754 Awesome good to know. Sector 14 was a bit of a drag! I managed to ride most of it in the dark which wasn't ideal. Glad the bike worked well.
