Very happy to see the new videos! I was worried that you gave it up. I found taking video of my trips to be pretty distracting, and the editing was tedious! Can you tell me what size tires you have found most useful? I am getting a custom wheel set for my Mukluk. Thinking 29x2.8”, but wondering what your experience is. Thanks, and happy trails!
@OmniTierra2 жыл бұрын
Oh I’ve definitely thought about putting the cameras down. Lots of good reasons for that. For now I’ll keep making videos. Each one seems to get a little bit easier. 29 and 27.5 both work fine with the Mukluk IMO. As for width that really depends on the terrain you’re riding more than anything.

I got a second small dog; Her name is Sophia (sophie for short) plus my chug, NaOmi they are both in the small dog category and both therapeutic dogs for me and an extra companion for NaOmi. I know Sophie loves the outdoors; we three look forward to camping on the weekends here in Nevada in Red Rock/Lovell Canyon maybe Spring Mountains, etc. I have them both arranged to be with me on the bike; Sophia in the Buddyrider dog bicycle seat (since she is a tad bigger than NaOmi) and NaOmi will be in a XL doggyride Cocoon with rack adapter installed onto front cargo rack; both dogs will be in front of me. I know my weight for weekend camping will be much less than dealing with longer travels and carrying more gear, but my two dogs, Sophie ~18lbs and NaOmi ~14.25lbs will obviously tack on the additional weight. Can't wait! Happy travels to you and Mira. Stay Safe

Hello, I just found your videos while looking for ways to bike with dogs. I love your adventures, but I am not brave enough to go out as far as you. You have inspired me to get my dog on my bike. I have been working with one of them to run next to me, she is a Mini Aussie (50 pounds, not to mini)(I have 3 dogs). She loves it so much that if i leave the house with one of the bikes she is stressed and wants my husband to stop what he is doing, then hold her until I get home. I am going to get the crate for the back and getting 3 is not a problem I will have one on each bike. We will adventure all over our county in the near future. Thank you for showing me how it is done. I hope Mira and you have more amazing adventures. We are on our way too.

Hey, great to hear from you Julie. One of the things you might want to consider is a single wheeled trailer. This way it’s easy to switch between bikes and the handling will probably be better. Just my $0.02
@julielance35882 жыл бұрын
@@OmniTierra Thank you for replying and your input. i do plan on getting the trailer, my other 2 dogs are 9 now and could not keep up. My youngest will come more then the others. I am not as adventurous as you and will be returning every night to my home, so she will over go in the bed when I am on public roads. I did for get to ask about the device that you use to get directions. I would like to get one of those. Thank you again for replying and have a good time with Mira.

Do you carry a secondary charging device like a solar panel, or does the hub generate enough power for your needs?
@OmniTierra2 жыл бұрын
The hub doesn’t do all the power needs. But that’s only because I carry cameras. For a phone and GPS and maybe one camera it would be enough. The other issue is that I ride in the mountain so often and at those slow speeds going up no hub will generate enough power for you. Interestingly that is one of the reasons why I switched to 27.5. I can get more revolutions at the speeds I ride. It’s a small difference but it actually makes an impact. So I carry a 20,000 mah battery and charger up from time to time when I can access the power grid. I have experimented with solar panels but I haven’t had good results.

Hey John, what stove are you running? And you burn unleaded gas? Thanks, from BC 🍁
@OmniTierra Жыл бұрын
@primus Omni Fuel Ti Lite. Yes mostly gasoline in the 300ml bottle. That amount lasts most of a week if I cook a lot. I have used butane mix gas canisters and they worked well too with the jet change. The stoves now are available with a silencer from Primus even though they aren’t that loud to begin with. I have used several other stoves over the years. While alcohol is quiet and clean it is more difficult to find and it is up to 10X the cost of petrol/ gas.
