Thanks Lee - thats really lovely of you to say so 🙏 My view is that it’s just a bit of fun to take part - and the main battle is to get a good individual climb👍 Really lovely part of the world for a ride out and a few punchy climbs (anythwere upto 10mins) 👌. And for sure - a really nice bunch of guys - was a lot of fun making this one 💯

It was amazing to meet you in person Giorgio - and I love what you are developing with your channel. You are a super strong amateur athlete - and will be a force of nature on Zwift and for the Cross season. Am looking forward to getting back down your way for another ride out - or an attempt on your assault bike 🤢🤮 . And for sure - talk up the victory 🧐 - if only you ever learn to rest a tad more, you’ll be mixing it at the top of the field! ✊💯💪

Well done, Phill! Time penalty aside, you seemed to be going well! The build-up...well, it was partially the typical Phill thing and partially just plain old-fashioned bad luck. ;P Nice to see Chris, Paul and Giorgio as well. Nice little "band of climbers" you put together there. ;)
@BikeRacingWithoutMercy4 жыл бұрын
It was certainly a PB over that time: 2mins 40sec averaging 400w straight into 2mins averaging 285W. Ed’s training paying off, Lord 💪. Yes - the change in seasons sometimes causes the nose bleed - and it was bad luck it happened for the 20mins pre the event.... but I still should have set off earlier. But all good - the battle is against yourself! Absolutely - Chris, Giorgio and Paul are very nice guys to ride out with 👍💯

Great video Phil and nice pace on the climb indeed. It’s a shame they can’t close a countryside single lane to cars for a couple of hours during the race. When you crossed that red car at the top I thought it was going to hit you. Keep going - epic times for east Londoners 😉
@BikeRacingWithoutMercy4 жыл бұрын
That’s really good of you to say so Carlo 🙏 - I don’t think the Cycling Time Trials organisation is able to close the road for most TT or Hill Climb events - but generally the drivers take it very carefully - and there are lots of warning signs. And indeed a bumpy time for those of us in SE & E London .... stay healthy 🤞👍

Cheers Zaahier 🙏 And much appreciated - was the longest I’ve held 400W average for! The nose bleeds seem to happen during a change of season - but didn’t impact on the power for the event. The Wilier zero SLR is really wonderful. I’m getting in a few hard efforts on it so as to compile my thoughts for a review of the bike and set up. So pleased you like this real life content - I love making it too! 💯🙏

@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy congrats on the new PB for the 400 watts ... probably on the 20mins you would have increased as well. Have a fabulous week ahead and looking forwards as always
@BikeRacingWithoutMercy4 жыл бұрын
@@zaahierstanley955 Cheers Zaahier - currently my 20min power is stuck in the 295-305 range, but the shorter power has come up a fair bit. I think that when I go back to training the 20-30min efforts they will bump up a bit though. Hope your recovery starts to progress well 🤞👍
@zaahierstanley9554 жыл бұрын
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy hope you get to drag up the 300 soon. Perhaps threshold 105% watts x 3 to 5 once a week at 90 to 75rpm on hills and 85rpm on flats for 3 to 4 weeks and 6 x 3min or 3 x 3 x3) at 120% once a week will drag it up quickly over that period... My recovery will be slow it seems and I am mostly likely out of it for 6 to 8 weeks - sadly disappointed. If you ftp goes up it will make your zwift racing much more comfortable I could assume and should leave you with a bigger reserve in the last part. With you efforts and determination once could easily see you in at 350 watts over 3 to 5 months with gains of of around 2% to 5% on each block. You should be getting some gains on watts every block regularly during training for at least 4 to 8 months of the year in your phase hopefully. * Just a thought. Sorry for being suggestive ...
@BikeRacingWithoutMercy4 жыл бұрын
@@zaahierstanley955 Hopefully your recovery will be steady and sure, Zaahier 💪. And yes - I’ll be aiming to increase the calamities a little and let the weight come back up 1-2kg. Much of my 20-30min power progression has been in terms of W/kg over recent months - and also the 2-5min power. Will be interesting to see what Ed suggests - but I think that things like your 10mins at 105% will be back on the agenda. He had me do a sprint into 3 x 7mins @ 105% the other day💪

Harsh time penalty. But that's cycling right? On that note, from a self confessed "punk roadie "; what is the rationale behind leg shaving? How do you guys get to be so damn light weight? Highly entertaining start. Thought it was only me that had mind blanks; man stood in country lane with ladder?? Great content for someone fascinated by the physiology and psychology of cycling, but who really struggles on a bike.
@BikeRacingWithoutMercy4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Simon ! And indeed it is - there’s no mercy in cycling 😁. I’ve only been cycling 2 years - but as an ex natural body builder , enthusiastically adopted the leg shaving 😂. I reckon it makes nil difference to someone like me who is not able to lay down the power in a TT aero position - but maybe there’s a marginal gain for someone better! Mind blanks and unnecessary chaos are my speciality BTW. What element of the cycling do you struggle with?
