Adventure. My bike is a folding full sized hard tail mountain bike with 27.5 wheels, 1.5 wide tires, 3x9 gears, and a modest air fork. Change model 809

Just what we needed most: one more category of bikes to boost (?) sales. Now I can't wait for the release of folding time-trial gravel tandems

Recently I took an "adventure gravel bike" with 2.1" MTB tires to a race. The only guy who was quicker races in the CX world cup. On really rough terrain and in corners he struggled more than I did, but on climbs it was the other way around.

Unless you've finished top 10 in a UCI gravel or Life Time Grand Prix race, you don't need a gravel race bike!
@KoreaRidesАй бұрын
@Csapi007 if only things were as simple as you try to make them out to be!
@RareosАй бұрын
Except you do if that's what you want. if you like to race you have the option to get a race focused bike, so what? Are you benefiting from all it's tech as a weekend warrior? not really.. are you finishing top 10 anywhere? no... but you aren't competing for the Sensible Cup either so just enjoy your life and do what you want.

Use an older CX bike that goes up to 40mm rear, 42-45mm front for fast - smoother gravel and short road rides/ errands.. Looking for an another frame for wider tires, works with modern parts, no toe overlap with wider tires, travel, and comfort on long rides .
@CycleXplorerАй бұрын
Still loving my aluminium Topstone as a bit of a do it all gravel bike. Super comfortable and almost 5 years old. It's done gravel rides like King Alfred's Way, South Downs Double, club runs, some time trials and the Pan Celtic Race.

I have a Topstone and a Diverge. Both have dropper posts, and hydraulic disc brakes. I currently have 30mm Pirelli P zeros on the Topstone and Pirelli Cinturato M on the Diverge. Each bike has a second wheel set with the opposite tires, all tubeless. Point is, the gravel bikes can do it all. I have an outstanding Andante hard tail mtb that is a great ride, but if I stick to green and blue trails, I find it fun to ride them on a gravel bike. That’s the main reason I have droppers on them. Nuff said 😅🚴🏼♀️👍🏼

Blah blah marketing. I slammed the stem on my "adventure" bike and put some fast wheels and tyres on it for hardpack gravel. Now it's a race bike 🤷🏻♂️

Same - bought a Checkpoint, switched out handle bars, rims and rubber, and seat to match a Checkmate. Now I have a race bike without the cost.

Hahahah. I fell into watching too much youtube too. I have been working on a -7% 1.5 mile KOM. Aeroad at 2:00 flat, 13.6 lb SuperSix hi mod at 2:01, TI Gravel GR300 on Deep Dish Reynolds Wheels2:03. You are the biggest factor in aero not your bike!

Blah blah commenting. I lowered the suspension, put racing slicks and lighter wheels on my mini van for the track. Now it’s an F1 car 🤷♂️

I really like the gen3 checkpoints but wish it came with 2x grx. I live in the flatest of flat here in deep south texas, so I have no need for 1x with super easy gearing.
@Boss-dr2zkАй бұрын
Actually 2x has lower gears. You could get a 1x and throw on a 11-38 Cassette with a 44 Chainring or so. Just get the bike you like and then change the gearing to the one you need

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pair of bikes so utterly boring in design and colour
@tomas7403Ай бұрын
The stem is the key, with a regular stem you can change from adventure to race easily.
@oldmanbucksawАй бұрын
Both the Checkpoint and Checkmate have relatively long reaches and low stack heights. The stack on the Checkpoint is lower than other bikes in the "adventure" class.
@pingpongballz5998Ай бұрын
Ya the new checkpoint doesn't seem upright at all
@Andy_ATBАй бұрын
To be honest, far too many bikes stack figures are too low, even for supposed Endurance bikes.......I don't know how they get this so wrong. I looked at both the Domane, and Checkpoint, and the Domane is a better fit for adventure riding, than the Checkpoint.....
@oldmanbucksawАй бұрын
@@Andy_ATB I recently shopped for a new adventure gravel bike and settled on the Giant Revolt Advanced because of it's stack and reach numbers compared to the competition.

I have a racy gravel frame and an adventurery gravel frame. After 4 years not sure which is best for me
@Cycling.BikepackingАй бұрын
If you buy 1 size smaller and fit 1cm longer stem - your “adventure” bike suddenly becomes racier than your “race” model. Pure marketing bs.
@graemehillАй бұрын
And it can fit tires that will be faster for some courses. Really surprising that trek did this considering they apparently had a push for fewer models.
@vincentdufour9487Ай бұрын
Is the Checkmate simply a Domane SLR with greater tire clearance and madone’s cockpit ?

There's Adventure, Race, Allround and Monster...and I can't wait for people to realize that category equals purpose. People putting too much diffent meanings into "gravel".

@SergioCristancho2 күн бұрын
the adventure bike does exist? well it does... and is not a gravel bike and not a trek is any bike that you could turn into bigger gears and you dare to put on heavy loads of packing ... a race bike in any cycling discipline is the most state of the art light bike you can have, or afford BUT then you can go trek and buy one of those bad boys we are N+1 to have ... just because.

Trek ad essentially. Bye
@YounanPhotoАй бұрын
why, you can apply this to any bike.. They aren't hiding sponsorships..
@JustBrowsing777Ай бұрын
@YounanPhoto yes you can apply the principles to other bikes. But I can bet this was not about the channel wanting to do another video on a topic discussed to death in recent years. This was surely Trek approaching them wanting to do a paid advertising for their two gravelbikes and the channel creating content around that. I'm pretty tired of that spoonfeeding.
