G'day Guys, I bought a Lithium motorcycle battery for the DR650 and I can't believe how lite weight it is! I also include a quick weight experiment between water and petrol as I made a mistake about that in the previous video. Hope you enjoy :-) Cheers... Mark

I noticed 700 grams is 24 ounces. I think you said 8 ounces US weight. . So 1 pound 8 ounces. Very cool and light battery. 👍

Our parts rep explained the charging problem this way...when these batteries first came out, they charged a cell at a time~~thus causing a lot of heat. They've changed the way the battery charges now to where all the cells charge instead of just one at a time. It really is amazing how light these batteries are. How well they work, I don't know yet...guess I'll see how your's does before I spend the money for one. Thanks for all the videos!!!

Enjoyed the video very much! Yet to fully understand the differences between lithium and lead acid as far as performance, recharging, etc. But the weight difference between the two (and petrol vs water) was pretty unbelievable! See you on the next video!

OK you forgot to subtract the weight of the container when measuring the water and gas. And are you familiar with using dielectric grease on ALL of your electrical connections to keep the moisture out and prevent corrosion . You should be able to find it at hardware or automotive suppliers .If all else fails even regular automotive grease helps .

Be mindful that a usb outlet will have a constant power drain if connected directly to your battery even when it's not being used.

7:45 That should be 1 pound 8 ounces, or 1.5 lb. Yet another patented "Mark mistake". LOL. Unintentional humour is the best humour. Keep it up Mark.

You do NOT need a special charger/tender. This is a lie from the dealer to sale you one. Think about it, your regular non Lithium Stator on your bike will be doing the charging of this Lithium battery. You dont have to change Stators for this battery. But a little caution on these batteries, I bought a WPS Lithium ION for my DRZ 400 6 months ago. It all worked fine and dandy until I added extra off-road lights, and power plugs for my phone, GPS, ect. Started having dead battery issues 2 weeks ago. Replaced my regulator/rectifier, and my Stator, and still after about 3 days of not running the bike it would fail to crank. I thought I might have a drain so to be sure I pulled the battery out and charged it up. In three days the little test lights on the battery went from being full to half. At half way i put the battery back in the bike and it would only turn it over 3 or 4 times then it completly died. I took it back today and got a good sealed lead acid battery, and used the $60 I got back to by some extra goodies. Just beware that saving 5 lbs on a battery doesnt make since when you have purposly added 40 or 50 lbs to this bike in upgrades. Lithium is lighter, but has no where near the power storage of a good Lead acid battery. I tried it over and over. I load tested a new Lithium Ion 20 times and it dropped the voltage from 13.45v to 9.5v. The same load testing on a new Lead acid battery dropped from 13.26v to 12.25v. Both freshly charged batteries out of the motorcycle sitting side by side.

Just Lithium ? not Li-Ion or Li-Po ? i've only ever seen Lithium batteries in wrist watches and motherboards (the well known CR2032) and those are not rechargeable. Does it actually start the bike ?
