Glad you reintroduced this gem (with obvious safe edits). Loved the original first videos , love this one too. If you still have the video of the Diesel switching at Poughkeepsie Yard, that would be cool to see again. Hope that Hogger is enjoying retirement now.

Electrification ends just north of Croton-Harmon, but I'm pretty sure the locomotives switch to diesel just after they get out of the Park Avenue tunnel.

Generally the engineer starts the engine up as they exit the tunnel and let it idle until 125th street. Around 6:15 you can hear the locomotive gap out on the 3rd rail so it is still running on electricity as it approaches 125th. I've been on two trains going home where the engine failed and they let the train run on electricity all the way to Croton, but it's not normal practice, since the train is limited to 60mph in electric mode, and the locomotives arc much more than the mu trains with the higher current draw passing through the 3rd rail shoes.
