In todays episode we service and rebuild this Specialized Venge. It's a super in depth job that involved all new cables, a lot of adjusting and sawing down a carbon stem!

Hi there. I know this is an old video. I’ve seen some of your videos in the past. Bu5 I’ve never commented. I was looking for content about Specialized Venge old model and stumbled on this one. I have to say. I do like the way you use the different grease and the way are storing them. I do work on my bike at home. Some small servicing etc. but when I do , you can see me with a lot of containers spread on the work table. 🤣 But I’m gonna mimic your way buy using these medical needles 💉 for less mess. lol. Thanks for sharing man. I do own a 2007 Bianchi 2007. Still racing with it. It’s a climbing bike. I’ve added some 40mm rims to it to keep the light weight but to benefit of some aero gains on flats. You know to keep up with the aero bikes in the bunch. Looking forward to step to an aero bike myself. Greetings from Curaçao 🇨🇼

I used to work in the textile industry and served my time as mechanical and maintenance engineer, I no longer work in industry and miss the process of getting my hands dirty and fixing things that aren't quite right or that are totally broken. I regularly strip one of my bikes down and do pretty much all of what you guys do in the workshop. It is so rewarding and just as much fun as riding them. Thanks for giving us another insight into the world of bike servicing and TLC.👍

For those that understand how the bike works, really appreciate the subtle but critical things u are doing to get the bike roadworthy and working like new. Makes me so happy to see bikes saved like this. What a beauty! This to me is when bikes were made at their best. Today it seems race/endurance/gravel are 1 category and they just don’t look and ride like these bikes. I just refurbed a 2013 Madone 5.9 DI2 and getting it on the road just made me remember what made me fall in love with cycling.

I have 3 bikes, Trek Domane DI2 & BMC MTB both work like a charm. But I have A Scott Foil RC20 2022 and that’s my race bike, but had been a nightmare regarding the brakes. The SRAM Rival AXS levers are making this peeping noice, brake rotors keep touching and making this horrible noice. The bike has been in multiple bike shops, the issues are still there. If I would be in the UK I would bring my bike in for service at your store just because I feel it’s going to be in very good hands (issues would be fixed).

Just curious you torque all the bolts but you use copper grease on the bolts which is good but do the settings you use take the grease into consideration as grease can alter the torque settings
@yonglingng5640
@yonglingng5640 Жыл бұрын
In general torque fastener talk, that is the case, but I've torqued multiple greased bolts according to labeled specs and damaged nothing. Torquing fasteners dry is asking for trouble in the future, like getting them seized. Instructions will tell you when not to grease a fastener.

Red with an Ultegra cassette? Is the chain SRAM or KMC? Looks like KMC.

Not even sure! This one came in and out and we can’t remember what chain it had.🧡⚙️

If the chain is an aftermarket one that works on both Shimano and SRAM cassette teeth profiles, nothing wrong with that.

I always think it strange that people buy expensive bikes and seem to know absolutely nothing about maintaining them. The same applies to cars - is it that the things themselves have become too complicated (by design of the manufacturers) or is it that people have just become too lazy to learn how to look after their own stuff?

There are various reasons, one of them being that some of them don't have mechanical aptitude. Some don't even know how to remove a rear quick-release wheel from a frame because they don't know how to pivot the rear derailleur out of the way. One of my customers didn't know how to align the skewer levers properly until I taught him (the levers were lined up with the frame tubes before this, making them difficult to flip open and doesn't guarantee full clamping force).

As a detailer, I cringe a little everytime I see you "polishing" matte paint. What you're doing is bringing that finish closer to a satin finish and smoothing it out which is the exact opposite of the intended effect of matte finishes. The best thing you can do with matte paint is to decomtamite it as much as possible with soap that doesn't contain any gloss effects (waxes) and then use a matte paint coating to protect it. As always... LOVELY job on these videos!
