I don't know if anyone is dumping on it, but the issue here in the US is that many highways are 65-80 mph (105 Km/h - ~130 Km/h). The bike would be maxed out at those speeds, especially without a sixth gear. Next issue would be the brakes and if they could handle slowing down quick at those speeds.
@papaloo20003 жыл бұрын
Two thing missed out..... 1) BMW has poor service network and 2) very expensive maintenance cost. This i believe is the most important, Investing one time to buy a motorcycle can be done by any enthusiast, but maintaining should not be a pain point in terms of pocket friendly and service network, in this way Himalayan gets full marks.
@ekimandersom44783 жыл бұрын
Instead of upgrading the shitty brakes, they decided to add a useless navigation option. RE should listen better to their customers. NOBODY asked for navigation, there are better aftermarket ones and very easy to install.

I don’t find the brakes bad at all. This is not a fast scooter so the stop is adequate for me .
@VikramSingh-iv1hv3 жыл бұрын
Himalayan is perfect allrounder for Indian roads, it has old world rugged adv. Feel. Suspension setup is best in segment, 21inch wheel makes more offroad friendly, stock seat is tremendous. Service cost and parts cost is not one time affair, Baby GS will give u 650cc japanese machine service experience and last but not least RE has huge service network so if u stuck somewhere in ladakh then a local mechanic can fix ur bike.
@areyoulying49373 жыл бұрын
I own a GS 310, good get back into riding bike, but long term it’s fussy to find neutral or first at times. Throttle control is a little inconsistent which is frustrating when hitting friction zone coming off a stop. Not a confidence builder on smaller highway contrary to the video.

Never personally tried the 310GS, but I had known enough about BMW, gad a F800s, multiple friends with the 800GS... If you go BMW, you'll need to take in account some factors: Even if you can afford the motorbike, the maintenance is couple 8-10 times higher than any other bike, and usually can ONLY be done on BMW dealers You can't do much to that bike yourself: Very difficult to work in, and need special tools for everything, you can't do a quick fix in the rad side. They aren't very good quality. Specially electronics tend to die suddenly, and that is dangerous in bikes that rely so much on them! Modern GS can' t have the ABS switched off, rendering them useless for off road.

For us Americans: The Himalayan makes 24.3 hp (6500 rpm) and 23.6 lb feet of torque (4500rpm). Since the engine is compared to the power of a 250CC: A (last generation 1986-2016) ) Honda Rebel (250) makes 18.5 hp and 14 lb feet of torque. A (current generation 2017+) Honda Rebel 300 makes 27.4 hp and 19.9 lb ft of torque. A BMW GS 310 makes 34 hp and 20.6 lb ft of torque at 9250 rpm. A KTM 390 Adventure makes 37.4 hp (9000 rpm) and 23.3 lb ft of torque at 6700 rpm.
@BikeWaleOfficial3 жыл бұрын
The nature of the Himalayan's engine is completely different to the other bikes you've listed. It is a much less-stressed torque-heavy motor that makes most of its power in the low and mid range.
@danwilson83903 жыл бұрын
@@BikeWaleOfficial I agree, it's totally different, the one thing about the himalayan is that you don't have to have her screaming her nuts off to achieve max torque! It's right there at 4000rpm..... GS with it's incredible suspension setup, wider tyres, lighter weight and lighter clutch, it handles dirt much better than the Himalayan. But with all good being said about it's offroad capability. Its weight is not something you can handle with ease especially if you also have accessorised the bike like me. It's better to jump off the bike and let it take a fall. I feel baby gs will be good for offroad for beginners.
