Top comment in that it makes 110mph feel like 50mph. I bought my first Busa in 2001 and thats exactly the reaction I had then. I couldn't believe how fast I was actually going. Fortunately, I also couldn't believe how fast the brakes stopped the bike, otherwise I would have definitely been in the bushes on the first ride. Good to hear it still has that same impact.

Great review and totally on point. I have a 2013 'Busa after having owned several sport bikes. It gives you the thrill of speed like a sport bike, but it's larger and more comfortable. When I ride with my small group, we typically do 400-500 mile days, which is no problem. It corners MUCH better than people think, especially with some sticky Dunlop Sport Max tires. If wind buffeting (and the law) weren't a concern, you really could ride this bike at 120-140 mph all day long. I've owned quite a handful of bikes in my life, but the 'Busa is by far my favorite. It does everything well.

Had a Gen 2 Busa for 7 years and it was one hell of a machine. It could pull a tank down the road! But in the end, the clip on bar riding position got too much for my bad back so had to trade her in for a more upright bike. But what a great 7 years I had! This new model looks really nice. 5:48 Perfect description. I own a matte silver/candy red one and that's how I feel about it. It's not like my '06 ZX-10R, which always feels anxious and on the verge. It's not a calming ride at all. The new 'Busa is nice even going slow and doesn't feel boring. It's such a different vibe. Warp speed is available at any moment, but it's not required to have an enjoyable ride. The Ninja going slow always tempts me to go fast. It's such a contrasting experience, always teetering on the edge of suspense in any gear.

These modern bikes won't be collectable, rather more like white goods. They look shit, out of proportion and lack the soul the older gen bikes did. These rider aids are a bad thing too. Doesn't allow you to learn to ride properly without all this Nanny State controls kicking in. I would bet money someone who never got to ride an older bike, say from the 90's, who only rode a modern pussy bike, would most likely kill themselves on the older bike. We never had traction control, ABS, lift control and all that other malarkey. We learned to ride like Men. My 2001 ZX9R is a Carburetor bike, with no rider aids and it's a joy to ride.

Had a Gen II as well for a few years, but kept the original. Now, about who it appeals to? I was 47 yrs old, and had 14 years of a Gixxer, when I bought the "cult" Busa. The most perfect, easy bike to ride. Handles impeccably. I don't think I'm too old at 68 to love the 3rd incarnation. (And get a lowered seat.)
