We've got our hands on a Suzuki Hayabusa and we plan to build the ultimate GT bike. Trim some weight, up the power and head off to the Nürburgring for some fun! #suzuki #hayabusa #gtmotorbike

You guys are knocking it out of the park at the moment! So much excellent content, and the most honest relaxed presenting style out there. Keep it coming …. I’m spreading the word. 👍🏻

I really like your format. Not just testing bikes or doing silly things like 44 teeth (more and more Top gear alike) but an actually useful content. The more I look at this busa the more I like it.. . Just all this chrome really makes it look cheap.

So, current projects: a trials bike out of an Indian Meteor and a grand tourer out of a Hayabusa. The theme is? Bonkers and brilliant!!! 😎👍

You forgot about the Raleigh Wisp!

True. In 1999 it was meant to be fastest bike. I think nowadays it tries to be comfortable sports touring bike, and for that it seems pretty great actually.

If you are turning a Hayabusa into a convincing GT bike then I think a good idea would be to knock up an effective luggage carrying solution too...

Yep, luggage will be part of the plan.

Just needs a tail pack.. Go as fast as you like, don't notice it's there.. Don't use panniers or top boxes ... They ruin high speed handling...

@@1mick66mick66 We'll go for soft options, enough for a toothbrush and a spare pair of pants!

If I could suggest you have a look at Krugger tail packs.. quick to put on and off.. solid mounted with under seat straps, it's waterproof... And can add on other packs .. My mate got one.. so I copied him.. Get quite a bit in there . They are brilliant..and as I said you can ride as if it's not there.. So luggage carrying sorted.. I'm not sponsored by them either... 😁

Yep, the Busa is just begging for this! So many older Busas running around with Helibars, dropped pegs, a bit more windshield and bags (of many sorts), it's always been just an aftermarket afternoon away from real GT status. Will be watching how this unfolds with GREAT interest!

Looking forward to the next episode… I owned a Busa for 14 years, awesome bit of kit, gotta say though, after having a couple of days on the new one, I actually found it to be too refined! I’ve now got an H2SXSE with all the toys👌🏽👍🏽

I rode my Hayabusa (which I purchased for these trips) on 6000 mile rides from Savannah Georgia to Los Angeles California and back, three years in a row. Helibars and soft luggage. 18000 trouble free miles.

Love this! Did the same to my Gen II. Dropped 48lbs, lowered pegs, raised bars, taller windscreen, retune, etc. Named it ICBM because nothing covers miles effortlessly like this bike. Even built custom hard bags, but decided that was a step too far. Very interested to see what raising the front does.
@Panther81ify2 жыл бұрын
Exactly what I planned to do for quite some time with a gen2 pre-abs bike. Brakes first (as the 2nd gen brakes are not regarded as the best setup) then remove weight, sort the suspension, some pillion and luggage provisions (removable, installed for trips) and maybe a bit of a tune as a last thing Inject a bit more of dynamic capability while not harming what the bike is already good at, making a bit of a "universal sportsbike concept" Hopefully one day.. Interested to see what you will come up with during this project, maybe I can take some inspiration!

I had a similar plan with my ZX14R. Put a full Yoshimura single muffler system that lost 12.5kg and then a lithium battery lost another 4kg. Inch riser under the bars helped with comfort. I did the power commander as well. With the front chirping put a zip tie in a fork leg and check if they are bottoming out can help. Looking forward to seeing what you do. 👍

I've always like the Hayabusa for what it is but calling it "really comfortable" for a sports tourer is pretty subjective considering the tiny windscreen, low bars, high foot pegs and no luggage capabilities. Although I guess you can turn any bike into a tourer if you throw enough money at it.

Sometimes I do not understand humans :) They shave off every once from handlebars to enhance sport character from a bike which is not sport bike to begin with. Then they add engine cage, panniers and 100 pounds worth of stuff just to change this motorbike into touristic machine. Hmmm I have solved this dilemma in more sophisticated manner. Got my Africa twin for traveling the earth. Got my Hayabusa for teleportation.
@lallumanohar41072 жыл бұрын
I really like this bike but one thing that letting me not to is the handle bar is too low for me and while hard braking the front end dives too much,just want to know is it possible to change bars with stock cables and brake lines?

Just starting my own transformation, 4-1, air filter, ECU re-mapping, might also go up a size on the rear tyre to 55. I'm keen to see your soft luggage plans, looking forward to the next vid.

Wonder why Yamaha never got in on the crazy grand touring missile competition of the early 2000's? ZX-12R, ZX-14/R, CBR1100XX, Suzuki Hayabusa, and Yamaha.....? The YZF-R1 wasn't competition for this big-bore long-wheelbase speeders, it was competition for the superbike races. Vmax wasn't it, either. FJR1200/1300 wasn't it. Maybe YZF1000R Thunderace was as close to this sort of thing they came (but it was really the predecessor to the R1). Would be cool if Yamaha would have produced a 1350-1400cc something or nother with a great name (maybe even a V4 engine), distinguished from their racing bikes, with a super low-drag fairing.

Think it was more of a gentleman's agreement with the European Authorities...can't remember where I heard it but I think that there was a feeling that the idea of a 200mph+ production bike development battle resulting in several production models of ever increasing speeds especially motorbikes, might encourage people to ride that fast on the roads....and a certain amount of reaction to the idea, was starting to look more like possible legislation limiting both power and top speed....at which point the Japanese manufacturers agreed on no more than 186mph in return for no further movement towards official restrictions being necessary....and so we ended up with the current way of things as a result.... Also as always Just incredible videos and content Chris...Thanks So much & as Always Very Very much Appreciated too...!!!! :)

They settled on 186mph because that’s 300km/h. And Japan’s government has a thing with restriction on cars and bikes. Like it’s a fetish 😉

Will it outgun an Ariel Atom on that runway? Would like to the ZZR1400 do what you said it did. On a runway pass the Hyabusa, drop back behind the Hyabusa, and then pass it again.

So Chris only has three projects on the go at the moment; the 'Busa, the Royal Enfield and the Raleigh(?) moped? Based on the time it takes me to complete a project, this should keep Chris busy for....five years?

Interesting reading these comments. I had a Busa, dropped vario footpegs, Helibars, double bubble screen, and I also used the Kruger tail packs on the rear seat. Superb luggage!! Did the whole Akra 4into1, airbox mod, PCiii, custom map, MCT suspension job, and brake upgrade. It was an awesome distance tool, and I'm 6ft4". I also bought a BMW GS for touring, and sold it soon after because the Busa was so much better at covering ground. Only sold the busa because after 3 years, I couldnt believe I still had a license. Very easy to go very fast. I miss it!!! Bloody love a BUSA

It will be interesting to see how it turns out as a fast tourer. I have a Holeshot turbo on my Gen 2 Busa and it still rides as a pretty normal road bike until you wind on the throttle. I’ve had it at 238mph on a track so a bit over the top for road riding. I like the look of the new Gen3 model, I will watch with interest how the modifications turns out👍
