Hello my friends! I really hope you enjoy watching this video of one of the most beautiful places on the planet! It’s a long day out, but what’s better than peddling a bike all day? Have any of you done the White Rim? Or visited Moab?

I love watching your channel. Stay free, my friend. All those people you talk about who aren’t able to do what you do, can’t because they’re resources are being used to buy useless crap marketed to the most irresponsible people in our population. The price of two designer handbags could buy a good bike and would do them more good. Your bike is never going to throw you out of a house you worked your butt off to buy, it’s just going to enable your freedom. Cherish it!

I ride that trail in the 80s with a camp midsummer. So hot we got up before dawn, rode til too hot, siesta, then ride past dark. Camp got ticketed because we slept where we could, didn't know there were sites. Camp's first bike trip with no support vehicle, just a bunch us kids with panniers. That place is awesome. Like, real, actual awe.

I can’t wait to do that trail. We love Moab!!! Funny I’ve never ridden a bike there, my wife loves to hike there. She’s not the biggest hiker but when we go to the red rocks she’s like a mountain goat lol! Maybe this year I’ll get some riding in there. 100 milers are just such an amazing time on dirt. Feels like such an incredible achievement. As others say it Ryan, you have an incredible energy about you. Wish I could carry that with me more, so hard to be super positive all the time. On the other hand I guess it should be so easy to look at everything in such a positive way. Considering how blessed we really are. Gotta get that change in paradigm more often. Keep being awesome my friend. You ever in the Napa area and want to ride or want a place to crash for a night please reach out.

I'm an independent trucker and in 2005 I got a load to Alaska and saw a fatbike/snowbike in a cycle store and bought it. I rode it a few days later all over the sand dunes in winnemucca, NV and then spent 2 weeks in Moab. It was so amazing floating effortlessly on the sand and riding slickrock and the jeep trails. I go there several times every year since. Moab rocks!

I have visited Moab and Castle Valley at family. Never ridden the trails though. I road long distance in the 1980-1992 time frame. On a 2 days off at the bike shop I rode Mesa AZ to Camp Verde on day one. I wandered around on day two towards Cottonwood, Cherry, Dewey-Humboldt and headed back to the Valley of the Sun with a detour south of Cordes Junction that I had noticed "Bloody Basin Road". I had studied the maps and knew it would be rough but I assumed it was do-able in 6 or 7 hours. I started the mapped out course and road hard from 1 to 6 and flatted at the only mileage marker I saw and it was half way. I was short of food and water and knew I was a long way from home. I hammered up and down rough roads to 11 Pm and started to see a glow that erased stars so I knew Phoenix/Mesa was in my path. I started to see road marks I knew and made it home about 1:30 AM. I was due at Bicycle Harbor at 9 AM and was late for work. I did have a tale to tell. I had ridden the Arizona Challenge a few times and loved the challenge and accomplishment that was due an adventurous ride. This ride was on a bike I built and was on pavement and dirt about half & half.

Great video! Beautiful trail. We did part of it in 1992 as part of a 1 month bike tour in the SW. It was my first time in the area and I fell in love with the scenery and atmosphere in the desert, especially in evenings and at night. I’ve gone back several times for biking and hiking although I’ve not done White Rim again. I think we did the section by where you had lunch but can’t accurately remember now.

@@DarxusC If we can help, we should, but quite often there is little we can do for those that are hours, miles or countries away. We should help the ones that are within our reach but when those opportunities are not immediate and available not waste the time that we have been graciously gifted. I think Ryan is a perfect example of this!

You mentioned halfway through your ride that your body was aching. One unsolicited suggestion is to try a suspension stem post for your hard tail mountain bike. I recently invested in one after many years of denial and it has made all the difference when going 30+ miles on hard uneven terrain. Now, going 40+ miles feels like being on the bike for 10. Now, I'm a believer!

Great video Ryan. I’ve been making regular trips to Moab to mountain bike from BC since 1992. Always planned on riding around the WRT in a day on a bike. Then I got a dual sport moto and did it. It’s a long day on a dirt bike. It would be cool to bang it off in a day on a bicycle I’d better get training. Leaving for Utah in a couple of days. : ]

I have this on this falls agenda, hopefully “world events” are sorted out by then. I’ll need to lock down a campsite for at least one night though! Great vid! Love me some Moab!

I knew 30 seconds in I wanted to do this. Time to trade out the road bike and find a mountain bike. You just gave me a goal. I'm 52 this year and by 55 I want to make this happen. Thanks for sharing and congrats to both of you. Where do I find the 100 mile route. Just googled and said it was 71 miles or so.

The entire way around is 100, I reckon just the white rim road is 70...but you have to get back to your car...so it's 100. Hope you make it happen

My brother, his son and I are planning a day long mountain bike ride this fall and I tried to get them to do this one but it was a no go. But I finally got my brother on a bike after 25 years of trying! So one step at a time. I will make it there to ride that trail someday though.

Ryan I would recommend you install a redshift suspension stem on your 1120. I put one on my 920 and it made all the difference in the world on less smooth terrain.
