Informative and entertaining, thank you, CC. Previously you helped me decide to get the Aventone Aventure 2, which I've had a month now and have yet to run it out of power. I weigh 215 and I've gone 29 miles so far, with 38% battery remaining. I've reached 29-31 mph in a stretch of small hills once. Of course I'm not using throttle very much, and on flat ground I turn off battery power where I can. I'm still learning how to balance the four pedal-assists with the 8-speed gears. I am SO GLAD it has multi-gear shifting, not a single speed hub. Without gears, that would negate me pedaling without battery, my legs are too weak up inclines. About 50 years ago, I was a cross-country runner, too ... but my leg power is about gone now. Like you experienced in the video, there are situations where the battery power isn't available, and the rider will need to do all the pedaling. Gears help.

Also, the way the Biktrix dual battery bikes work, only one battery is used at a time, the controller will run one down about 10%, then swap to the other and run it down about 10%, and so on. This gives the batteries time to rest, cool, and recover, but it also means that the display is only showing the charge for the current active battery. You will literally see the battery charge level increase when it makes the swap, but you have to be looking for it because there is no other indicator that it's happening, the bike just manages it for you.

Thanks for reminding me to carry a tire kit and pump. I really like the plug in extra batteries. Definitely a step or two above most e bike brands. Looks like you can order these without the speed restriction. A little expensive versus some of the newer mega capacity bikes hitting the market, but looks to be high quality.

Mr. Citizen, it was interesting seeing you put the Biktrix upside down on the floor to remove the rear wheel. When I did that with my Fabulous Ebike EMX-Xtreme, I discovered a useful benefit of the Zoom quick-adjust handlebar stem. It allows the bars to be easily rotated so when the bike was flipped there was no weight put on the controller display or my bar-end mirror.

Good point on the quick adjustment stem. I usually just try to turn the displays out of the way so its not resting on that part.

Finally ebike companies are getting serious about ebike range with the 2 new ones that have 60amps at 48-52V. That 29amp extender with will see one cracking 60miles. And if you still wanted more range you can always add a third battery onto the rack 20-30amps. 🤔

First thing I would do with that bike is change the controller so it has a top speed of 30-32mph. I doubt the controller in that bike is 30 amps or it would go faster. 26mph isn't even a class III bike. Most 750w Bafang rear hub motor bikes with inexpensive 35a controllers and 52v batteries will do 30-32mph. Also, if you want greater range, don't buy that battery extender. Opt for a 52v 19-20 amp-hr shark battery you can buy generically to plug into the controller. PS. Biktrix model to get in this style bike is the Bafang Ultra mid drive version. With right controller and Battery BMS, you can get over 40 mph easily. Smaller rear hub motor is ok but for real performance buffs, the Bafang Ultra motor version is the way to go which can take 3000 watts all day long.
@MultiSkyman1

Yeah, if you are in a hilly area, mid drive is a must I think. I am a bit concerned about that high 120NM rating though. I hear it really puts a strain on the drive train.

I personally find hub motors more difficult to pedal without power. (Spark mini) sold by Spark Bikes, now called Rize Bikes in Canada. I moved up to the Biktrix mid drive with the ultra motor and i can say, if i lost power, i have more confidence peddling that bike home than the hub drive. In some instances, i ride on pas 0 until i start to feel the burn, then i turn it back on.
@CitizenCycle925

@@CitizenCycle925 I have the hub duo and I find it easy to pedal. I can ride 50 miles plus with 40 of it with no motor, only pedaling. With this bike I can ride up hills with no power as long as they are not too steep. On level ground, gear three or four, with no power, I average between 12 and 14 mph. If I pedal really really hard, on level ground, I can get the bike up to 17 mph for a short distance. Sometimes I ride 30 miles and come back with an almost full battery. And I am not young, and only average shape. I am 57 years old with two back surgeries and 190 lbs. I also ride with a additional 20 pounds of gear in my bag. I use the motor mainly for going through intersections. I find it safer to fly through intersections and avoid the cars. My wife has an Ebike also, the pace ver.2 and she barely uses her motor ever. She will come back from a 30 mile ride at 95 percent charge. As a side note the Hub Duo is a excellent bike. I have 2500 miles on it. I did have to replace the torque sensor at 1800 miles however. The bearings in sensor went bad. I also have a Aventon Sinch stepover with 1400 miles. I like the Hub Duo way more. I use Tannus liners with flatout. I have had only one flat with this setup. When I got the flat I was out on a trail miles from nowhere. My patches didn't work. So now I carry patches, a tube, a pump, and handle bar jacks so I can flip my bike upside down and protect my screen, gps, etc.
