Just use the 3M 5200 to glue the pump to the floor. I put two in my boat. I have it wired so that if one turns on they both run.

I'm thinking of adding another one just like the one he installed (build with a floater) since the one I have activated only with the switch panel but I want to know if I can use only one hose for both pumps so I don't have to make another hole.

Your my new favorite friend! Just got a used Lowe 1648 and want to make some modifications but today’s project is a bilge pump. Only one of your videos I’ve seen so far but 99% of other Jon boat videos are useless. You go slow enough and thorough enough to actually learn something. Can’t wait to watch the other videos because your boat looks great.

Bro, you’re a life saver. I’ve spent hours trying to figure out how to hook up a auto bilge pump without using a 3 way rocker switch. Nothing I read or watched told me you could simply cap The brown and use brown white stripe as positive. Dude you are the man! Can’t thank you enough.

Cant find the vid where I asked my question on wiring the switch and fuse box. First of all, Thank You for your reply. Now the rest of the story. Have you ever stared a problem into complete impossible? I did. Nothing was making sense. Walked in garage this morning, picked up the switch and instantly saw how to do it. Remove red wires from switch, run individual Hots to each switch from fuse leads. Just like a house!!! DOH!! Thanks again buddy! Next time I leave TX and go to Dutchess County I'll holla! Maybe see ya on a res up there some where!

I realize this video was done a while back but I am wondering why the bilge pump was not secured to the bottom of the boat with West System 5200. Yes it is permanent. If you want it to be semi-permanent use the 4200.
@BassBrothersFishingDMV Жыл бұрын
Just didn't want to go with that option. If I need to replace service the bilge pump, it's easier this way.

Ok sorry for asking I love all you videos my question is I have the same bilge pump the black wire from the bilge pump you went right to the battery right and the brown and white wire all went to the battery right and the brown wire went to the switch panel what size inline fuse did you use a 10 amp or bigger? Thanks

If your not affair of drilling a hole, you could buy the hose port for the bilge if installed one on my jet ski and a second on my bass boat. They look good and don’t weaken your boat. .

The hull plug should go on the outside, not the inside of the boat. If you take on water, you can quickly pull the plug after getting on plane and gravity will drain the boat naturally. Thorough work and very detailed explanations. Thanks!

With the bilge pump right postioned where it is, how are you going to push the tab that is against the transom to remove it in the future?

A 'Y' adapter like this might work. Seachoice 3-Way Y Fitting, Fits 3/4 in. ID Hose, Black Plastic a.co/d/dKICJWo Depending on your hose size.

@robertraney20673 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking you could have just flipped the piece over maybe
@nicholasjwetzel9913 жыл бұрын
Alright if I may ask a question but at the same time break this down to make sure I understand. I'm using the same pump and hose assembly you have purchased and are demonstrating with, identical. I do not desire a switch so with that being said connect the black to the negative and the brown and white to the positive and test it. It works good to go? Or do I need to add a fuse still? Is a switch recommended? I understand the switch can be made to use a manual option but the way I see it why would you need a manual option if thats the main feature being automatic?
@BassBrothersFishingDMV3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are correct. If you are not using a switch and you want the pump to work on its own meaning turn on by itself if your boat takes on water then only connect the black wire to the negative and the Brown and White wire to your power supply. I would also fuse it with at least a 5 amp fuse just to protect it if you can. The other wiring option is if you want to have the ability to activate the pump manually as a backup to the auto feature, then you would also connect the solid brown wire to a switch. The you would be covered either way. Hope this helps.

Metal Supermarkets. Way cheaper than home depot and Lowes. Call them to get the lowest price. Don't order from their website.

Did you use steel rivets and will they rust out?
@BassBrothersFishingDMV4 жыл бұрын
I used steel rivets from Home Depot. I hope they don't rust. I'm not sure if they're stainless steel or not. I hope they are. Steel is stronger than aluminum but rust would suck.

Ok thanks

Should always use the same metal or your looking for trouble .. aluminum to aluminum, stainless to stainless.. If the rivets don't say stainless they will rust 100%.
