Despite what all the other characters and possible people that had to deal with the apocalypse/end of the world, Bill and Frank definitely had the most peaceful in comparison, lived somewhat long, had food and wine and each other, that's as good as you can get in a zombie apocalypse IMO

“Were there pills already in the bottle?” “Enough to kill a horse” Bill is such a badass. He went out on his own terms, I’m glad they expanded on these characters. The game only gave them a little time but this was way better.

@@Darius-_No, this Bill is exactly the same Bill from the game, but making different choices. Game Bill became paranoid about survival, whispering to himself in the corners, as we noticed while playing, and that's why he is abandoned by Frank, who can't bear to spend another day with him. But what if he had chosen to prioritize Frank in his life? This is what is told in this BEAUTIFUL and spectacularly well-made episode that stands out in many aspects in relation to the game. The life that Bill in the series lived is the life that Bill in the game always dreamed of living.

@@efgraginWell to be fair, we know the option of taking his own exit isn’t something completely out of character for Frank, given what he did in TLOU the game. I think the character who was changed the most by the show is definitely Bill, but honestly it’s a change I can see being realistic with the same starting point, he’s two iterations of the same character, but with each iteration making different choices leading them to different endpoints. Kind of like Multiple Universes Theory, but a lot less cosmic and a lot more gay romance.

Both portrayals were nice in their own way. Bill was a cautionary tale for Joel in the game. A peek into the type of life someone who cuts everyone off to survive but never really getting a chance to live as a result. Wheras Bill and Frank in the show are a reminder that even in a dark and sad world, love still exists and as long as we hold onto it hope is never truly gone. In the darkest of times, the love we have for others is what gives us the strength to continue living in a harsh world. Both stories are a story about the importance of opening ourselves up to the vulnerability of love.

the one thing that alluded me was how Frank knew the wine was already poisoned once he saw Bill drink in a similar fashion. Did not pick that up watching it on the television when the season was running.
@user-di7bk8hv6v
@user-di7bk8hv6v 8 ай бұрын
@@alexbeardsley751 I think it's two things. One is that Bill was heartbroken when Frank decides it's his last day but Bill isn't particularly emotional when "adding the poison" to Frank's wine (because he had already added it to both). Two is that Bill just downs his wine immediately and only after Frank drinks his - Bill is someone shown to enjoy the finer things and would normally savor his wine if he didn't want to make sure he died at the same time as Frank.

God, what a beautiful scene. I loved the splash of humor right at the end. This scene puts forth such a human element to relationships in such a brutal scenario with Frank's last joke. Both of them face their doom and in their last moments, a joke is made to break the tension. You can always count on your partner to break the awkward silence because they know just what buttons to push to make you laugh, even in the worst of times. Suicide? Tragic as all hell. But I'm going out with the one person in the entire world who could throw a smile on my face even before I'm about to die. Beautiful.

As much as the show has followed the game storyline, this part was completely different, and I'm cool with that.

I loved this, the game was pretty vague on bill and frank but you got the point. This on the other hand was beautiful.

Your right. That is very true. I was confused at first when i saw the relations between bill and frank, I thought: "Ah! This must be before things went sour". No. It was much more crueller than that. This was the ending they never got and we never saw. Far more heart breaking. And yet somehow...It worked...! It would be easy to say Bill is the "rotten miserable hateful" character we remember in the game, BUT! When we find frank...And bill mentions his bites...You can see by his expression alone and slight break of emotional tone that his heart did hurt. Badly. But then it was straight back to bitter bill. I do believe that somewhere bill did have a heart underneath all that bitterness.

I am a 100% straight man. This episode was quite possibly the best love story I've ever seen on tv. They found eachother in the midst of the worlds collapse. They lived together, loved together, and grew old together. They even chose their way out together. Thats 100% real and true love

this episode is a perfect example of priority on tell a great story over flaunting the sexuality of its contents for "clout". it was a beautiful love story in the apocalypse

How would crushed up pills behave in wine? And would it change between different types of pills? Hope you don't mind me picking your brain on this one, I'm genuinely curious, and I hope you're doing well :)

@@matthewlacey4198 powder generally needs to be poured into hot liquid to dissolve. Obviously sugar will dissolve in cold water/tea but I’ve never crushed a pill that you can just mix in room temperature liquid. And I’m doing great! Been sober for four years so all good. Just done a lot of experimenting back in the day.

@@matthewlacey4198 I don’t know why my response was deleted but I replied a while back. Basically, it’s like tea. You’d need real hot water to dissolve most pills.

I'm not gay. 1000% straight. But this scene, the entire episode. It broke my heart. I cried even. The love they had for each other in a world so broken that its so easy to tear itself apart was more real than when the world was right. I'm probably the only straight male whos actually straight to say this. In this show, they loved eachother. Thats all that matters. There love was more real than many other relationships.
