NIA is right! The relationship is polluted! The sister didn't talk about it for 3 years, and the guy should have spoken about the issue with the sister! And knowing that she shut her mouth for three years, and if she can handle it in the future! Nia is right about the question "What are the girls going to talk, deal, beat or stop speaking forever from the moment on"! For me it looks as if the sister didn't want to speak about it and this is rare, woman are 95% talk and report immediately, and the rare 5% of staying silent! It's not unusual for a girl who looks up to another girl, such as a younger sister to her older sister, to want to sleep with her older sister's boyfriend. If the younger sister does sleep with the older sister's boyfriend, she'll keep it a secret, because she doesn't want to disappoint her older sister, whom she looks up to. It works the same in a girl social clique. If you're sleeping with the Queen/leader of the Clique, you can sleep with all the girls in the clique without the Queen ever finding out. The guy should have just kept his mouth shut, & on the off chance, that his girlfriend found out at some point, he could have simply said, "I thought you already knew? I assumed, that your sister told you.".

Here's another angle. I don't think he felt bad about it when it happened. I think once he realized he and the girl were getting back together, and he felt fear disguised as shame, not guilt. He knows he did it, so why would he "feel" guilt? He wouldn't. He felt shame because he feared what the girl and others would think.

There's a simple way to avoid freaking young people out. Reek of weed. It works in a lot of situations. People look at you and think, what's this guy about. Then they smell pot, and go, "oh".
