I'm from Tennessee, and if you've heard that here I apologize. I was the little kid who hiked over to the black ridges to play with them, though they didn't call them black, they called them something else. We played every sport but mostly fished to bring back some food to Nana so we could eat fresh. One little white boy with 5 black boys who marched all over that ridge. Mandell, Pooh, Bug, Big Joe, Junior, I still miss you. And that word never passed my mouth after I met you.

@@Guavvaisgood999 Yeah, he did date a woman from Harlem, but it was a different black woman. He's dated several black women before meeting and marrying Nia. So, it is understandable that people would conflate them all as being the same person.

true comedy should never be punching down, that's when it shifts from making jokes to simply talking shit about people you view as "beneath you." almost always the audience can feel the difference. bill clearly doesn't view black people or women as beneath him, which allows him to go into subjects that other people usually need to walk carefully in and just fuck around and be dumb and funny

@@MunfuBittyAs a bi-racial (Ojibwe and Norwegian Viking Warrior), straight man, the three most racist places I have ever been in are New York City, Hollywood, California, and my hometown of Minneapolis. I used to be a card-carrying member of the Democratic Party (called the DFL in Minnesota) until I realized all of those White Democrats who "Claimed" to have my best interests at heart, were actually talking crap about me and literally every other minority they pretended to care about, behind our backs behind closed doors. They just wanted our vote and to tell us what and who we should be offended about and by LOL. It was kind of heartbreaking as many of these people I actually considered to be "friends". Since then, we moved to Outstate Northern Minnesota (close but not too close to my family's American Indian Tribe and Reservation), in the middle of White Conservative Trump Country, and, me, my wife, and our kids have never been happier. We get invited to join numerous different organizations, invited to all kinds of events, (BBQ-Pool Parties being the biggest), Shooting Leagues, Gun Range Clubs, and ......... Golf. God I hate Golf. They don't care I'm not fully White, they don't care I used to be a Democrat, they only care that me, my wife, and our kids are good people. Once they found out who my wife's father was, it got even crazier. He is probably the biggest actor/director of the last 50 years and the characters he has played are often Conservative American Hero types whether they are a Confederate Outlaw Rebel Soldier, the silent but deadly cowboy with no name, or the big city police inspector just waiting for people to "Make His Day" LOL. On all of my trips to the American South I haven't seen too much racism, at least nothing to the levels I thought I would or those in NYC, Hollywood, or Minneapolis. About the worst I have seen or experienced is just being ignored. I CAN DO being ignored LOL.
@Caniax5 ай бұрын
My mom did the "so your new girlfriend is... (glance left).. (glance right).. (whisper).. black?"
@thomasjoseph58765 ай бұрын
@@CaniaxAs long as your mother treated her fairly, kindly, and equally, then it isn't really a big deal. There is a difference between someone saying something that is or could be construed as racist by some and those who are actually racist. Saying something that could be construed by some as racist does NOT prove that person is racist. They just said an a-hole thing and in some cases, they might actually be an a-hole, themselves but not necessarily a racist. Not to mention, pointing out factual things is NEVER an example of racism.

Talking about things that make us uncomfortable makes for the best comedy. Because everyone is afraid to talk about it. When a comedian can bring it up and make fun of how we all act in uncomfortable situations, it helps us all remember that we’re all winging it. Chill, relax, unclench and have a freaking laugh.

I visited a friend and his dad when I was a teenager just outside of Atlanta. Forsythe county line had a sign that actually said "N word, must be off the streets by 10pm. " I was shocked. I grew up in PA (farmland) we had basically no diversity. I had no idea that was still that way (1988). I am hoping we have come along a bit since then.
